The Peninsular Campaign

During the actual campaign it'd be highly unlikely that more than 250 people would be in the same battle, right?

Highly, after this.. not even possible that i'll let it happen.

To be honest, i'm just extremely.. extremely pissed off. Not at anyone in general, but at the simple fact that I have no idea, nor did anyone else what the **** was happening.

We won't be hosting any events for a while now though, I have some personal stuff going on in the coming months amongst other admins having some problems. So until then, we will postpone any events and the campaign in general to deal with server stuff as well as real life things.

Sorry, to be honest if I had just attended to failed events in a row from the same organisers then I wouldn't have much hope for the future. So, all I can do is say sorry again.

as moogs said it will be on hold for a certain set of time
and lots of thing must be fixed before he can start it up again.

so just be patient and it will happen eventually

Just a few technical aspects for the event organizers:

1) There is a big campain with a couple of maps, create a map pack
to distribute them in advance or make an own map server,
where you have all necessary maps in a cycle and the players can connect and download them ingame

2) Invite one regiment and then another and not 300 people all of a sudden
For the connection, you have up to 300KBit traffic per client, which means overall 90 Mbit traffic for the server (calculation for 300 people).

Maps won't be distributed for the reason that the attakers aren't supposed to know what they are up against.
+ If maps were to be released artillery could practice.
And since AFAIK no one bothered to put anti-cannon barriers on any of the scenes the artillery would just rape everyone.

It's a bummer but you are taking a good course not to get stressed, have a break and better luck next time

Thank you for the support. I am sure it will all work out eventually.
We just wanted it to be special

mhm strange... Sawyer said he was under DDOS attack during the event time.
why not retry it when your not under DDOS attack?

Because it wasn't a DDOS attack, as Bird has already explained how it wasn't.
But, to put it simply if there was a DDOS attack on the server(s) then everyone would have been experiencing extremely high ping on the server(s) before hand and would eventually result in them crashing.
The ping on the server we occupied remained constant, some people still maintaining there 40ping when there were 250 ping on the server.

I personally was at a constant of 23 ping from 2-250 people on the server. This is the reason we are not sure what the problem is because the ping was fantastic throughout.
