The butcher was going on once they figured out that they need to retreat because of the might of phalanx and their casualties,so left it to the infantry:

That's basically what happened with me! I've been playing Brytenwalda to death and wanted something different. I loved the way infantry formed the core of each military in that mod...This is exactly what I wanted, even though I didn't know it until I saw it
