The only reason I'm not playing this...

is because of the combat animation.  I find them confusing and impossible to block.  Is there an easy way to get rid of them?

lol indeed.
this mod takes a little bit of configuring to get it the way you want it.  its not a clear-cut "install and enjoy" most of the time.  if there is any feature you dont like, be sure to read the submods and FAQ threads.  there are fixes and alternatives for everything.

it is well worth the extra 20 minutes to an hour it might take to get it right.  i garauntee you it is.

What effemb said, I dislike those animations in general, and instantly turned them off, applied some fixes, and the mod is just amazing.
Don't let such a small issue turn you away, it's possible to remove it.

Indeed, there are cool ones, but playing on let's say even 100% difficulty, I'm way too used to the standard animations, even blocking is hard with that thanks to the improved A.I.

i didnt find any that i liked.
way too overglorified and given the model skeleton system in MNB they attempted to make super realistic animations on a skeleton model that isnt...resulting in something that looked more cartoonish and, might i say "like a gay eccentric stage actor" than actual attack animations.
i can tell it was very good animation work but the engine doesnt do it justice.

One handed thrust, polearm thrust, polearm overhead swing, onehanded overhead. Archery is a bit questionable: it gives you the feel of power, but looks a bit strange.
