The Officer Gamemode

As I started playing this gamemode on public servers, I noticed that 90% of players has no idea what is the goal. Therefore, I wrote this ,,tutorial'' and asked Mat to stick this topic so everyone can see it.

THE POINT OF THE GAME
a) Polish rebels
- kill the nazi officer
- block the way to the flag so Germans will not raise it on time.

b) SS troop
- raise the flag (only officer can do it!) before the countdown ends
- kill all the rebels.

RULES
- there can be only one German officer.
- nazis mustn't kill civilians.
- no tanks.

FAQ:

1. How can I recognize the rebels? They look exactly the same as the civilians!

That's the point. You are unable to find the rebels until they show their guns. You have to be very vigilant to spot the enemy.

2.Why I spawned as a rebel with a differet weapon than I chose?

Weapons for rebels are random, so it is recommended to pick two bags with bullets: one for pistols and one for rifles.

3.How can I prepare an ambush to kill the officer?

That's a difficult question :smile: Generally speaking, it is advisable to act like a bot, and wander aimlessly around the nazi troop. Do not crouch, punch, jump, or, what is the most important, do not draw your weapon! Then, when you are ready to fight, it is a good idea to throw a smoke grenade before the attack, what will make Germans panic and get lost in the fog. However, the best way to kill the officer is to snipe him down from the main building, what can be difficult, because of weak sniper rifles that rebels are equipped with.

4.Why the game keeps saying ,,Trzecia Rzesza wins the round''?

Nobody knows :smile: It is a bug, will be fixed in one of the future patches.

5. Why the round sometimes ends with no reason?

There is a reason. The round is restarted, when Germans kill too many civilians. Then, it should give a point to the rebels, but it does not. :smile: Will be fixed too.

What I always do is to blend in with the crowd, nazi's wont kill a group of people in fear of too many being civilians and its not suspiscious. When your on you own walking towards them they get suspicious.

One thing though which should be improved are the paths the bots take in the "Town" map. The bots always stay at one side of the map, making a easy escape rout for an officer who know what he has to do. Which is just sticking to left wall since there aren't any bots there. Its obvious any character who walks there is a player. So yeah more walkpaths for the bots and more spawn points to make things more realistic and fair.

Another tactic I like using is picking the bloodied shirt. Its obvious when your walking around with it that your a player but its perfect for faking dead. Since some players will think your actually dead because of the blood.  :razz:

You can also hit bots when they get to close, they often back up so creating more space for the officer to move.

The bots should also get more facial differences since it can be easy to tell the bots apart from the players because of certain facial hair. (don't know if this is possible)

Officer class should perhaps be limited to 1 player? To avoid too many officers.

Here an idea I had for another gamemode. Being inspired by the Officer mode. (gotta love playing as a rebel/assasin)

What I liked most was the Officer mode. I've been thinking and realised another mode which could be fun. Gestapo Mode. The difference between Officer mode is that the Gestapo are trying to hunt down the rebels among the Volkstrum. This would play out a bit as Manhunt for Assasins Creed. The Gestapo would look the same as the Volkstrum. Ofcourse there will be also many AI bots around. Equally devided for both teams (that way 1 team is not at a disadvantage because of banner not showing). This would mean you would have two teams which look the same, only thing dividing them is the banner. A team would try to kill the other team. If you kill too much enemy civilians you lose. So its essentially a stealth game, more so then Officer mode.

Edit:

The Gestapo mode could also work like Team Deatchmatch with respawns. Basicly if a player or bot is killed they respawn. The goal is now to achieve a certain number of points. Killing a enemy players makes your team gain 1 point, killing an enemy bot makes you lose 1 point. This might be a better option for this mode.

One thing I've noticed is that when Iget a smoke grenade I only get the 'nade and a nagant pistol with no ammo...
 
Ahhh smoke granade is only one rebels weapon which isn't random. It is recomended to take both amunition and pistol amunition. And you can take smoke grenade if you want. If you chose it you will get it. Simple.
 
Ah, this is very useful, I got kicked because I killed civilians. But I didn't knew what the point of this mode was. Now I do so I'll try not to kill the civilians. Thanks Hofiko
 
Quite the lot of us knew the goals of the game mode, but wanted to make it more interesting by implementing roleplay.
 
Yeah, I dont think roleplaying here in this mode/mod (both of them) is a good idea, but feel free to make a server with rules, admins and all that were you have to RP, it might be fun.

1. It is the point.
2. I said I wouldn't mind, not that it is.
3. Roleplay aint junk you are just not sophisticated enough. (lol)
 
For me, RPing people should be kicked from the server... RolePlayer in this gamemode is just another name for a troll. I think I said it before - want to RP? Go to the RP server.
 
I remember the first time I played this mode. It was on the railway map and the rebels spawned in the village while the Germans spawned at a truck. We we're the Germans and everyone was RPing it, not kills of course but there was a bit of RP. The Germans we're RPing a group of soldiers looking for escaped POW's (might've been something else) and if they found a player they would point their weapon at him and he would have to surrender and march to the truck since the German soldiers worked in pairs, if he shot one the other would kill him. But we also didnt know about the flag raising at the time so RP just made sense then.  :grin:
 
What is actually the AI of the bots? Whats the secret?

This would be perfect for a Assassins Creed MP mod. You should consider it :razz:.
 
Trzecia Rzesza means Third Reich in Polish because im polish and Third Reich is the Nazis
