... Masterwork broken sword. Yes, that's right, a 'MASTERWORK' and 'BROKEN' sword. How long do you think the blacksmith spent to make a broken sword deliberately, with such skill that it became a masterwork broken sword instead of a fixed sword?

Otherwise: It was a Masterwork Sword and than broken :wink:

Better to repair it back to masterwork sword or recycle the metal to make a dagger. Masterwork broken sword is ridiculous.

That's annoying...

Masterwork Masterful Longsword anyone?

In .57 I actually changed the item_kinds1.txt so that items like this wouldn't show up. But then there was .58 and I never played it, heh.

I've seen a "Lordly Lordly Plate Armor". :lol:

I don't get your logic in that a blacksmith would make a deliberately broken sword, you're thinking backwards. :roll:

Masterwork broken sword:  not so ridiculous.  Think Narsil, from LoTR.  :cool:

Compared to other broken swords? Yes.
Its still broken though

"A rose by any other name" Broken is broken. It was once masterwork but now its broken, the only quality that should apply is that it is broken. What next? A chipped broken sword?

Then it should be "Broken Masterwork Sword". Doesn't make much sense either way though.

It sounds like the break was masterfull; The sword broke in a masterful way.

I don't agree. 'Brokenness' isn't a prevalent quality and doesn't meant you should remove previous qualities. Perhaps the broken sword is then chipped? Then it would indeed be a chipped broken sword. And if it was once a masterwork? Then why not have a masterwork broken sword?

Anyway, I always thought the whole item 'Broken Sword' was a bit crap. If you want a really short weapon that is actually any good, why not use the Seax Knife. I just think it serves to use up an inventory space at the start and I always sell it straight off. Anyone here actually use it?

I agree, but what if it was possible to pay a weaponsmith to fix it for you? Let's say a hefty fee and a weeks waiting, and you'll have your masterwork weapon. :smile: Would be a good way to get rare weapons if balanced. You could also have your shield broken if it's been smashed in a combat, like it is with horses in NE (although you can't repair a lame horse). :roll:

A chipped.. broken.. sword... I will let yourself listen to what you wrote for a minute before going off on that pile of stupidity..

A chipped broken sword makes perfect sense. You have a sword:

<================|====)

You have a broken sword:

/========|====)

You have a chipped sword:

<==---=--====-===---|====)

And you have a chipped, broken sword:

/==---=---=|====)

The edge is chipped and the blade is broken. I'm not understanding where your pile of stupidity is coming from.

I don't know the right english expression of the german "schartig", perhaps it's "burred/jagged/notched/notchy". I think "chipped" means schartig here, would be all clear :smile:
