One thing I love in M&B is visiting places : villages, castles, towns, in that order. The sceneries are usually beatiful, and make you regret the whole game isn't like that (how cool would that be if all movements took place in such sceneries ? Yeah, how cool, and how resource-consuming, too... ). So here's a little thread for me and you to share the places you like the most in the world of Pendor. Saxondragon, I don't know if it should go in the "pendorian stories" thread, I felt like it was something different, but if I'm wrong... Also, not sure things won't change with 2.0, did you guys edit the villages/towns/castles ? Anyhow, it will still be some enjoyment for fellow travellers of the lands of Pendor, I hope. Let me begin with the village that gave me this idea...

Gihir is a village under the jurisdiction of the town of Torba, in the northwestern part of the D'Shar Principalities, along the route connecting Torba to Shalador through the pass of the Scimitar, where Scimitar Fortress lies.

The village is to be noted for its surroundings and situation. It is built in a mountainous vale, at the mouth of it, and thus offers both a view towards the mountains that spread further west, marking the boundary of the D'Shar Principalities, and a closer look upon a couple of high peaks between which this vale runs.

There is only a small number of quite unremarkable buildings in Gihir, and also some small fields. The village produces mainly flour ; it also produces some wine, fish from nearby streams, cabbages, furs from game that is quite abundant around here, and ale. A word of advice to the thirsty ones : wine around here is really not good, due to the cold climate ; better head further south to find some quality beverages.

Of note is the Village Elder's house, not for its architecture, but for its situation ; it dominates the village, for it is built on a platform on one of the vale's sides. That spot would be very good for a rich man looking to build a mansion, as it offers both strategic and picturesque advantage.

One can pass days just riding or hiking in the numerous hils, mountains, vales that surround this village, that are full of lovely spots for either a scenic picnic or a rather interesting close-quarters battle in beautiful and challenging surroundings ! One thing though : the visitor may notice that some mountains seem to miss a part, as if cut in half and ending in thin air. That is not an hallucination induced by alcohol (at least if you followed our advice regarding the wine) but a known phenomenon in this mountains, that may be due to a number of meteorologic phenomena, or maybe some other visual trick. The scholars of Torba are debating the subject with passion since decades, culminating with one theorist being thrown down from an apparently "cut in half" mountain by one of his adversaries eight years ago. His body was never found, despite many searches.

This is really the kind of thing that we need on the wiki! If you can put these in the faction section of the wiki: http://popmod.wetpaint.com/page/The+D%27Shar+Principalities that would be perfect. I've been meaning to do these for some time, but I just started a full time job so the wiki is really being left alone >_> some time if I get a long weekend i'll get back to attempting to make a page for every town, but if that's the kind of thing you would like to do you are more then welcome to go for it
