The Heretic army

So here we are, Sarleon territory, I'm laying waste in their lands but there is a problem. An heretic army is attacking three dukes, they are both enemies? What should I do? Helping the army and taking three prisoners? Or destroying the army? I see my siding kingdom (Empire) is having problems and I can't do much as a mercenary, but killing the heretic army would be a great blow for the minor faction.

Help the heretics and let them lay waste to the Saleron scum. You can kite them towards a castle then lose them and they will sack the town possibly.

Regarding Heretics vs Sarleon, is it common to see Ulric roflstomping demonic magni? His banner is a magnet for red eyed freaks.

And help heretics. You will probably capture their lords, either money or strategic advantage.

When playing as a vassal or merc you always side with the minor faction when they attack someone you are at war with. You possibly get prisoners (lords if you are lucky) and the battle loot as well. In addition you keep that army alive to kill more of the enemy troops.

If you are about to make your move as king or are already king then you take care of the minor faction armies, paticulary the ones that are near your lands. Don't go after wolfbode if you are based out of Janos for example

Just kite them into enemy lands and let them wreck havoc and while the enemy deals with their seige you attack them elsewhere.

I'm fairly certain that in that situation you can't side with the faction you're at war with. Help the heretics (numbers alone should be enough to get them the win if it's only 3 lords, so you don't really have to do anything), then hopefully the battle will hurt them enough that you can handle them on your own.

Ok thank you . Now I'll see their strategy besides getting demonic magnus charging.

Oh, I didn't know that, because it's the first time I see a minor faction fighting with an enemy kingdom.

That's actually their best strategy since their infantry suck horribly and the cavalry under Heretic Magni isn't great.

And I exspected some immortal infatry combined to their powerful demons. Did the battle (obviously) won, and that's how it went, their footmen aren't so strong.

That's generally how it is for most invading armies. They have a few formidable units that they have a lot of, but once you take those out then you can just steamroll right through the rest as long as you still have a fairly decent sized army (you can have less than half of what they do and probably win at that point). Defeating invading armies is more about just surviving the first few waves or just attacking them repeatedly then leaving to rebuild your army. Or showing up with a bunch of your faction's lords to use as meatshields.

The last thing you said, I always do that lol. I'm gonna start from the weakest enemy minor faction of the mod, the mystmountain bandits, they are just a bunch of looters with another name. Gonna prepare my hammer, axe and blade with shields <<

I might also mention something else that lends credit to my theory. Demonic and Heretic Magni are a real ***** to kill for a PC, let alone your hapless AI troops. Every heretic army I have to fight is usually me couching down the Demons while my men flail helplessly at them or manage to kill off the Magni and worhippers before the wave of minions hits.

Well, you can trust me on that one, about the last thing you want to experience is a nice and tight infantry cluster around a Demonic Magnus or, far worse, around a dehorsed Demonic Magnus.

There are moments when you just want to break into tears and such an occasion is one of them.

Just like a cluster of Blademasters approaching your precious Ravenstern Ranger line or defending the breach.

If you have a large stack of units, help sarleon.

Then tell your units to sit in a corner of the map. This way Sarleon troops will be fighting the demons roughly 1v2 and get slaughtered. Once Sarleon troops are depreciated noticeably, then you join in and mop up. This way you gain a significant amount of positive relation with sarleon and you can take most of the loot from the demon army. Immediately afterwards, you murder the **** out of the now completely devastated sarleon army.

This way you can kill both sides with basically no casaulties.

Except in that scenario, the heretics will annihilate Sarleon with few casualties, then they'll annihilate you. You'll be needing vaseline by the bucket fulls afterwards. Not to mention, like I previously said, you can't help a faction you're at war with.

As far as I know, you can't turn on an ally without exiting the battle scene, and you should have a second or two once you're back on the map to start running away before the Heretic army will start chasing you. I assume you're faster than a large army.

What he's saying is choose to side with Sarleon and fight the heretics, then when the Sarleon troops are depleted, have yours charge and finish the heretic army. You can't side with an army you're at war with in a battle, even if the alternative is to side with an invading army. In that scenario, you either don't get involved with the battle or you help the heretics.
