The greatest invention ever

Erm, in order to be an invention, it needed to be invented. That means by conscious effort.

If there wasn't conscious effort, it just happened.

Well, technically there IS conscious effort in sex(as well as different applications during the..."proccess")

Sex is an inevitable biological action that would happen whether we were intelligent or not.

The greatest invention ever? Farming.

To say gods are inventions means you're an atheist,
which makes the idea of gods as great inventions very strange.

But to say that god is an invention means there was something before god, which is like, crazy **** dude.

I do not agree. Before the invention of the wheel, there was nothing in its place...An invention is to make something from thin air(so to speak), not upgrading sth to the next version.

I don't care.

Most atheists would agree that religion is a powerful tool which can be used to control people. Some may consider that to be a good thing.

Cats are the only gods I grovel to.

An invention requires an inventor.

In the risk of commiting blasphemy, I wonder...Wasn't Jesus or Muhammad inventors of their corresponding religions?

IF we accept that God was indeed an invention(hypothesis), then of course they made it up. And anyway, people that get up from the grave and fish-spawning...Seems legit!

Yes, us.
Religion is another invention, I believe that there is a reason to why everything is the way it is, and that there is a reason behind the beginning of the universe, and the subsequent life on our planet. I don't believe we can comprehend it, OR write a book about it, or know anything really... The reason I say "reason" and not something, because I don't believe a "thing" created everything, or someone for that matter.

Yes indeed when we die, life leaves our body, and it has to go somewhere just like everything else in this universe, NOTHING just disappears. Everything is a change, and nothing is final. So I believe once our body because part of the earth again, our "spirit" also changes forms. People call this heaven, and some Christians I know have even went as far to say that heaven is an eternal orgasm.  :???:

Well I hope its not, because anything eternal, is more like hell than heaven... I believe that the universe is an endless cycle of change, that will never stop, only change.

I am not an atheist, I just haven't found the path yet, and I'm sure that if God IS real, and he made me this way, then he understands...

Perhaps you would like to check in to the Religion thread. This conversation is really going towards that.

I guess god understands me being an atheist then, good. Guess I can still get into heaven without having to pay money.

Religion is a belief I would say, not an invention.

As a counterpoint, religion itself may be a belief, but what about organized religion? In particular, the organization explicit in its name. Would this not be considered an invention? It's a process that facilitates religion, and athough IANAL (hhehehe), I believe if this was done today with no precedence, then it would be patentable, and hence an invention.
