The Gathering: Suggestions

Users who are viewing this thread

Hey again!

I have some ideas for new mercenaries:

Partisan/Guerrilla, They would use wide array of bows, crossbows and muskets and they would have pikes to counter cavalry.

Foreign Marines, They would be a hybrid of crossbowman and swordfighter

Armed miltia, they would use handcannons and very light equipment, here's a example:

Norse raider, viking type barbarians from the north, they would use axes, throwing axes and shields, here's example:

Handgunner, They would use different kind of handcannons, heres a nice example:

conquistador, Good horsemen with steelplate armor and morions. They're weaponry would be swords and pistols. They really fit this game cause they fought the aztecs in real life and the snakes are the new elgante's version of aztecs . Here's a few pics I found:

Sorry, but I don't know how to post the pictures so you must use links. :/
BTW, Why the Light Matchlock is flagged Not usable on horseback?

Can you make a script or more specifically, a questline that offers players a choice(as well as a reason) to choose between the rebels and the empire. Likewise a quest that allows players to switch between the two.

I'd like to start out in service of the empire and have an actual reason to join the rebellion later on. I'd like to see texts, npcs and possibly quests explaining and further immersing me in the Empire-Rebel conflict and their grim hardships. Would also be nice to flesh out the lack of resources when it comes to things you're able to buy. (Although shops already feel that way. seeing as how the only plate armor available is hard to find. I like that. Despite that I am dying to see plate armors, morions and sallets in the game.)

I'd also like to see unique items that serve various purposes, further personaling New Elgante. Mostly stuff that looks unique and sits in your inventory, providing various bonuses and having it's own description whenever you hover your mouse over it.

I wanted to post an example picture, because another mod(1429: The Hundred Years War, currently in French) has done it and it absolutely blew my mind. Sadly the links aren't working anymore. So I hope you get what I mean.

Just one suggestion: maybe implement Diplomacy mod?
I have heard that it is one of the contributing factors to large mods running slowly, I wouldn't know though, because im so bad at coding I can't actually get it implemented
It's on the to do list, though it would need some tweaking to suit the New Elgante world.

Quests are the main thing keeping me from releasing the new version, I want to have a few in and functional for it, the main storyline will involve the Empire and Rebellion and another colonial faction on Dusk Isle.

I think I know what you are talking about, I saw it in 1866, giving you + 1 to pathfinding etc. Something I hadn't actually considered to put in the mod, I'll see if I can get it to work.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Hey Crossbow Joe! This is such a great mod and one of the very few I play. I think the Freelancer mod would be an excellent addition to this. Since I started playing this mod I thought it would be awesome to start as a lowly tribesman that was recruited by the army and work my way up to a chieftain or something and eventually command my own army. Let me know what you think.

First of all congratulations for this wonderful mod. I absolutely love it! IF you don't mind me, have another version planned?
Okay, anyway, here are my suggestions:

1) For weapons, you can take the 15th century weapons pack for Shredzorz, it has polearms, polexes, swords and such.

2) You can make good use of Narf's pack. He made some amazing morions and half plates and full plates. And the russian pack would be perfect for the rebels(the armours have fur and leather, they are natural and crude-ish but very elegant)

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,100949.msg2526671.html#msg2526671 This one is great for you, it has morions and cuirasses and many things you can use!

3) Freelancer(for me it's all that important, but it would be a good addition)

4) Clothes(you have some very nice clothes but there are a lot more you could use)

5)Bucklers! It is the era of swash-buckling! Narf's pack has some bucklers and you could diminiss the steel shield in size, in order to "make" a new buckler.

That is all I can think right now. I am not a coder, not at all, but if there is anything else I can help you with, please, feel free to ask.

Just wondering why you decided to go with chain mail armor, i don't think it suits the arquebus and jungle scenery well, my suggestion would be to go with something like conquistadors wore, a half plate with a helmet like this

I love this mod but honestly can't stand watching those chain mail, musket wielding, musketeer hat wearing Empire guys

There's tons of OSP's like that that you could use, shame i have no idea how to mod this game, might have to learn it tho haha

1. Will do, I don't know how I missed that
2. I think I originally failed at putting Narf's armour pack in back when I was particularly bad at modding. But its some really relevant stuff now! Love it, that'll probably make its way into the final version.
3. This is another example of me failing at the module system, I kept getting bizarre bugs when I put it in, I'll give it another go though.
4. I'll look into it for sure
5. These should fit in nicely.

I don't like the chainmail either, its because I didn't have access to more than one plate armour model and had to have some sort of transition. I'm a bit out of touch with OSP's over the past year, so if you wanted too direct me to some good ones that would be appropriate I would love to include them. The Rebels chainmail is kind of deliberate though, I wanted them to be using archaic gear that they could fashion together using old technology.

For snake tribe, should use a snake head for head armor, maybe even make it so that their full outfit is snake skin to give them the terrifying appearance of being a "snakeman" so to speak...
