Hý Ferox,

I'll upload the new version in a few hours. Perhaps you can try to run that one. If it still doesn't work, make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card.

If you are running windowsXP (or win2k) then take a look at the event viewer after attempting to run it (control panel->administrative tools->event viewer) and see if there is an application error message there.

You could also try running task mangler and see if the process is there (even if there is nothing on the task bar) CTRL+ALT+DEL or right click the task bar and choose task manager.

Next step:
Update your device drivers (graphics drivers being a good place to start) to the latest stable release.
Try closing any programs that run in the background using msconfig, disable ONE thing at a time (will require a restart).
If you have a virus scanner, try disabling that, don't disable your firewall though (assuming you have the sense to have one installed).

i tried it on my wife's computer and it runs fine.

when the screen first loads up to play/buy etc does it need windows messanger or something? because I have all that **** disabled to stop pop ups.

i have downloaded the latest version and still no go.

if there was a way I could just load the program up without having to go through the original screen, I thinkk i could play it .

Same thing here, Armagan.

The new version doesn't work for me. And it doesn't register on the event viewer so I can't see the error message!

It can't be the Omega drivers since Ferox has a different graphics card, though he could be using the Omega drivers for GeForce...

I am now getting obsessed with this game, the more I'm being kept away from it, the more I want to play it.

I was wondering, Armagan, what if I buy the game now and you send me the .exe file without any process checks and such?

EDIT: Just sold my soul to Microsoft and installed Service Pack 2.

Doesn't work still...

the game is amazing really. I have been playing it on my wife's computer since last night, I just cant get it to run on my much better computer!

Perturbatio has given some very good advice on troubleshooting up above. One last thing you you can try is to open rgl_config.txt and change the line
disable_music = 0
to
disable_music = 1

I don't think that will solve the problem but no harm in trying.

I tried installing both the new .621 version and switching off music. Still no-go.

I seriously can't think of anything else.

All I can think of at the moment is if both I and Ferox and someone who can run the game normally would give details about our computers so we could compare them.

I'll start:

The actual computer is a 3.06 Ghz Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading (could HT be the problem?), 512 MB DDR133 memory, SoundMax integrated sound card, Ati Radeon 9200 128mb. I have Windows XP Home installed with Service Pack 2 and the latest updates. I have VDMSound installed, I have Zone Alarm Pro, AVG Free and Microsoft Anti-Spyware running, the computer is connected to a wireless router (though mine in particular has an ethernet connection to it), my Internet Explorer has this stupid bar at the top which is a part of some spyware I can't remove.
My page filesize is 766mb and all windows visual effects set to on.

Thats all I can think of at the moment, it's 7:38 am here

Ferox, please have a look at these details and list yours. Try and list as many differences and similarities as you can.

Could hyperthreading be an issue here?

I already listed my details on the first post, but ill add more. I changed the music thing and it also did not work.

for audio my sb live just died so im using the onboard that came with the motherboard. This shouldnt matter though because it works fine on my wife's pc and EVERYTHING of hers is onboard hehe.

norton anti virus, noads, icq/trillian and all the regular junk. I am also behind a router but not wireless.

I honestly dont know, but if there is a situation with more then myself, I dont feel so bad hehe.

Ferox, you forgot to mention which Windows you are using and, preferably, which service pack too.

Also, could you open the System in Control Panel, then the Advanced tab, then Settings under Performance. There go to the Advanced tab and give us the value for "Total Paging file size for all drives".

I really wish I could try to run this game on my work computer, see if it works. Unfortunately my supervisor, though he happens to be my dad, is sitting right behind me

Well I haven't really got any good news for you, but I can tell you that it runs fine on my athlon 1800, 512mb RAM and GeForce Ti4200 so presumably it can't be that the game's not compatible with your setup.

Have you got the latest drivers and directx etc?

whats the latest direct x? I know I have the latest drivers..

hell my wife hasnt updated her directx in ages and it works. I have a computer i put together myself, my wife has a frickin HP from the assembly line and it runs fine.

I have the same problem. Wouldn't start with the old version, or the new version.

I am running Windows XP with SP2, no windows updates. AVG anti-virus. DirectX 9.0c. The computer is an AMD64 3200+, 768 DDR ram, geforce 6800 gt (using nvidia forceware 66.93 drivers, cant update those because the newer versions unfortunately cause problems with open gl applications i use for work). All other games seem to be working fine, so im not sure what could be stopping this from starting

I have a very similar spec machine and no trouble running it (except the occasional expected bug).
Athlon64 3000, GeForce FX5900XT:drivers 66.93 (only real difference), 1GB DDR RAM, windows XP SP2, DirectX 9.0c, AVG
