The European Union. Everyone keep calm. Be civil.

Oil may come back. But it's proven itself to be an incredibly volatile source of income, not the smartest resource to base your economic futures in. Alberta is roughly the size of Scotland and they would be boned (more than they are right now) without our system of equalization payment system. There is no guarantee that recovered oil prices will remain high, and every guarantee that the world will slowly move away from oil as a primary source of energy.

Uhh when has oil not been volatile. It is an asset of Scotland, but it isnt the UAE here.   Norway hasnt turned into Uganda because of oil prices.

The foreign ministers of the six nations that signed the "Treaty of Rome," founding the European Union in 1957, will meet in Berlin or Brussels. Ministers from the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Italy and Germany want to consult about what must happen with the EU in the event that the UK withdraws: Further intensified cooperation, a loosening of the same or the formation of a new core Europe consisting of these six countries?

EU in action

From HMRC for April-June 16

UK exports to Germany £2.7 billion
UK imports from Germany £5.2 billion

Do you really expect Germany to want to throw massive tariffs on goods from the UK when it would hurt them just as much.

The latest healthcheck from the Office for National Statistics on goods coming in and going out of the UK reveal that the gap between exports and imports in the first three months of 2016 widened by £0.7bn to £23.9bn.

That is nearly 24 billion more that we buy from the EU than we sell to them, It is in everyones best interest to keep tariffs to a minimum

It is not just Germany but 27 European countries who will decide the terms of the deal. If your economy is much smaller than the partner, you don't get a good trade deal. It has been the case for many countries. UK's economy is dwarfed against the EU, so it's almost certain that UK will get something worse than what it has now. But this doesn't mean UK's economy is doomed as tariffs are already quite low(because of WTO) even between the countries without any trade deals.

The mayor of Calais wants to review the treaty with the UK.

I guess the camps will move to Kent

This referendum result is breaking the country apart. Only natural when half the people want to stay within the EU.

Also, top kek at this idiot:

Reactionary voters are the worst sort.

Haha, oh my god I bet the Queen is pissed. She already lost the Empire, now she is going to lose half the Kingdom due to these idiots. Stop blowing holes in me ship!

The Queen was actually for leaving the EU. You reap what you sow.

In other news we'll see what agreements Britain will try to make with the EU now, maybe they'll join EFTA and be like Norway.

This goes to the whole Brexit, though. It is the saddest aspect - that you cannot collectively laugh it off the same way you can some hardcore anti-imigrant, hardcore direct democracy or any other completely misguided and disgusting demands.

I do get the sentiment though. Perfectly centrist people have been voting for far right parties for years as a protest against the political system. Horribly misguided and it backfired of course, but I do understand where this comes from.
It's the disgruntled middle class shooting itself in the foot and then complaining about the results when they actually get what they voted for. Same people who voted for terrorists to become MPs in our parliament and third in row party at the elections.

It's kinda funny/sad though, watching all this play out. Irony at it's best when these people find themselves awestruck and dumbfounded about their own choices.

The Queen officially has no vote from what I know and tries to remain neutral in matters like this. There's a lot of talk though, people claim she was mostly in favour of leaving.
http://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/jun/22/the-sun-queen-brexit-front-page

Take this with a grain of salt since it's mostly rumors and don't come from a very reliable source.

It's the ****ing Sun.

The most indicative news about the Queen's position was that she was asking people, "Give me three good reasons to stay in the EU." Official press says that she meant that in a curious and discussion-friendly tone rather than pointedly, and no word on whether or not she asked the opposite. So there isn't any good information regarding the Queen's position, and saying she was for leaving the EU is terribly inaccurate.
