Fortifications
Trenches
Soldiers equipped with spades, must ensure that any enclosed fortifications are wide enough to allow for an entire enemy unit to occupy the position without needing to kill all of the defenders beforehand.

Melee
Melee begins when one or more members of a unit are engaged in close quarters combat with the enemy. It is not considered concluded, till all combatants are dead or have disengaged from the melee. Note, units may not split whilst engaged in melee.

A charge allows a unit to temporarily break cohesion and make due haste towards any enemy formation within their immediate vicinity.
Cavalry are permitted to charge over greater distances than infantry but must ensure line of sight is always maintained.
Note, charges may only be launched when a unit is in good order. However, if another enemy formation comes within a reasonable distance of an ongoing melee, all units involved may continue to charge without need to reorder.
