The downside of owning fiefs ;-/

Started a new game last week, built up a hefty bank account for a while, then joined the Nords. Built up my band with Huscarls and Knights, so I took 2 castles on my own and in addition was given 2 villages prior to that. So in total 2 castles, 4 villages and then peace is declared with the Vaegirs. Sounds good right?

Yes for sure, the downside (sort of) is having to run around and garrison 2 castles. The big downside is knowing that one or both of these castles will be sieged once war starts up again, not by 1 lord, by all of them. That's what happened, i had about 150 men in Jeirbe castle, with decent troops...but was attacked by 2000 vaegirs.

The worse part, is that while sieged, the entire Nord army comes to my castle but does *NOT* join the siege defense, i've seen them do this when the castle is NPC owned, but in this case, they just sit outside the castle.

Anyway, that's my rant...- both castles are on the border with the Vaegirs, so it's bound to be attacked again, just wish I got more help from the other Lords

Yeah, I've had the same problem. I'll be camping outside my castle that is being sieged by the entire enemy horde, hoping that some of my allies will show up to help in the defense. Then, some will pass by and I will breathe a sigh of relief, only to have them completely ignore me and my doomed castle. AI could use some improvement in these kinds of situations I suppose.

One thing you can do is sucker your allies into helping you if they won't willingly.  If you see enough allies within a given distance, I am unsure how far, it varies based off light, and they are not doing any thing but traveling, attack the enemy.  They will automatically be added to your groups total soldiers.
