The *COOLEST* way to improve relations with multiple lords

I've been at war with the Vaegirs for at least 75 days, during that time lots of battles, (i win all of mine of course!)...but my faction lords don't always, and some get captured. As the war rages on, the enemy is left with only 2 castles, and 2 towns, one of them owned by King Yarogleck.

Short story short, i receive a mission to rescue a Lord from Rivacheg...i strip my party down to 10 men (companions plus a few knights), and manage to sneak into town, by sheer luck, i'm able to knock out the prison guard with my wood stick and run inside to free the Nord Lord. To my surprise there are about 12 other Lords imprisoned there...i tell them all to go grab a weapon and fight. Then it's easy, you have 10+ lords running around whacking everyone...and my relation with each of them jumps about +10 each.

It was one of the most exciting things that's happened in game.

For some reason, getting the villagers to light the fire, didn't trigger any events though?

Anyway, wanted to share this awesome experience...was simply fantastic freeing all the lords.

Yeah I'm not sure how the village fire thing works, seems to be 50/50 whether all the guards go or not. :/

I rescued 3 lords at once though, that was pretty sweet.

I think the fire simply reduce the number of guards you face. (However, don't quote me on this..)

If village set fire in midnight, and wait till midnight, there is only one guard to in and one guard out. Without tell Village to set midnight fire then there many more guard.

Do you see a fire? What is the event trigger that happens when the actual fire is lit? I waited and nothing happened...

No, you don't see a fire.

From what I've seen, that fire attracts enemy patrols nearby. They move towards the village to check what's going on.

I'm not sure if it has any effect on the castle/town garrison or the number of guards.

I've only done one of these bust-a-lord-out-of-jail missions. I told two villages to set fire, clobbered the guard, got the lord and then was puzzled because the lord seemed to assume the position the guard had previously taken. Meant I had to go out and find out what there was to do. Luckily, I only had to do one other guard over and he arrived quickly. Bit silly that lordy mclordlord didn't fight, but hey.

I havent been attacked by a rescued prisoner yet. However, there's always one that hugs me wherever I walk x_x

Make sure once you pay off the village elder to start the fire that you walk straight to the Town/Castle immediately. I hate it when my fellow lords loot&burn all the nearby enemy fiefs and I'm trying to rescue my companions but there's none available for a distraction x_x

I've been attacked when the lord i went to rescue was from another faction (that i wasn't at war with), but wasn't part of my faction. I tried all different combos, but he kept attacking me so I gave up the quest.

depends how much they like you. with about 7 relation, i can pull off 200 denars. otherwise, it's 300 denars. no biggie. i think you need some persuasion to get it free via let them in on the secret.

The lord can still attack you - happened to me on Saturday. Of course, I HAD married his sweetheart and had a -18 relationship, but it was annoying to beat all the guards and have to go back to beat him up to escape.

The closest I got t that story was rescuing 9 companions from one castle.

What makes me laugh is that you can rescue prisoners from castles that are owned by a faction you are not warring with.

So you go in with full gear. Kill the prison guard, get the lord out (Can be anyone, can be a Khergit when your at war with them) start killing all the garrison, while still in full gear clearly showing it's you.

You escape and boom. 7 relation with that lord, 2 relation with his faction and some honor.

No - to anything.

It is mostly fixed. The two times it has happened to me since the fix, I was able to work around it by simply quitting to desktop and reloading.

I once had an early game character who used that as a way to make money. First I would find any lord or lady of a faction and then go down the list, asking where a lord was, when I got the message they were held captive in such and such place I would look up the lord, see if he had family, find out where the family was and ask some woman for a task and it wouldbe to rescue companion. Then I rode up to castle with my modest gear (Anything is better than the pilgrim disguise) and rescued the person.

Easy money and relationship boosts.
