The Clothes Thread

I'm not a fan of jeans, I personally feel that wearing jeans for anything other than hiking or working is a bit poser-ish. Like wearing camo.

Cargo pants can be alright but often they're 'fashionably' way too baggy.

How do you girly-men feel about cargo pants/trousers? I find them comfortable enough to wear with enough flexibility to be completely practical but they're not scummy looking like trackies. I had to wear an old pair of jeans yesterday cos my trousers were all dirty. It was horrible. Why does everyone wear jeans?

Like pretty much any clothes, jeans are all about the cut. If you have a bad cut for your body type they're gonna look awful and you're gonna feel awful. Go to a proper dedicated jeans shop, invest two hours of your time in trying out various sizes and cuts. Never look back.

This thread seems to be turning into a 'what not to wear' thread now.

Not sure why some people are even posting when they think all black is a style and you should wear boots all the time

To be honest, this isn't even that big a deal.  Jeans are pretty much fine any way.  You just want to avoid being baggy (skinny jeans that are still fairly loose are a good bet), and never get bootcut.  It makes people look like a Clydesdale. :3

You couldn't be more wrong  Jeans is a art. If I had a nickle for every guy who thought his jeans were fine any way...I would have a lot of nickles.

I have male genitalia.
But even with relaxed fit or whatever the **** my jeans usually are they still chafe at the thighs, sometimes strangle the aforementioned genitals when sitting at certain angles and they restrict movement. And I don't really see how they look good compared to cargo or suit trousers.

Would you mind giving examples?  I've never seen any jeans that were very impressive.

Although I'll admit I'm biased - I generally like slim-fitted clothes on men - the above are horrible cuts even for loose jeans.

Might not seem like too big a difference to you, but trust me, the ridiculously high waist and the weird bumps on the thighs scream poor taste to a woman.

On the other hand the skinnier the jeans are, the more useless it renders the pockets. If you have something bigger than bus ticket, that is.

Ahhh, then you'll love this:

Madness  Not that Glen Ford was a looker to start with, but putting a striped potato bag on him didn't exactly help him out.

Actually bought jeans today. Thought they looked nice in the store, but I just put them on and they make me feel like a particularily poorly coloured zebra. They're a darkish blue with vertical light stripey spots on them and I hadn't really noticed those.

I also used the measurements of the pair I was wearing at the time to deicde what I needed to have. Those were 36 width, 32 length which might not mean anything to you but I figured hey, maybe I could try 34w as I'm wearing a belt right to its last hole anyway. Didn't really work and the legs are too long despite being 32L as well.

Dude, never ever buy pants without trying them on first.

The numbers are supposed to represent inches, but apparently every brand has its own definition  This is also where the cut (low/high) comes into play.

I was all dirty and nasty so I didn't want to try them on. I'll see if I can get a refund or whatever.

Bought this a few weeks ago. Very happy with it if not slightly tight on the chest.

"Now, you will pay the price for your lack of vision!"

I'm considering changing up my style of clothing. Most anywhere I go I just wear a longsleeve shirt, jeans, and a brown denim-ish coat. I don't really know what to change to though.

I'm thinking of something more formal, but I don't know what would suit me. I don't think I qualify as fat anymore, but I still have a mild gut because I'm an ******* who refuses to go to the gym under any circumstances. I'd also like to avoid black, or any color where hair and such shows up. I have two dogs that shed like there's no tomorrow, and more embarrassingly a dandruff problem that borders on the physically impossible.

Bought the three piece suit. Awesome that I got to the store, dude looked at me, knew my size right away, I tried on the charcoal suit and it fit me as if tailor made. Never seen a suit be so easy to buy and fit. Only the pants needed some hemming, but that's to be expected, anyway.
Expect pics tomorrow, when I pick it up at the store.

Poor emo kids and their colour deficiency. Shoes are for girly men, though.
