Colnel. William Tavington
Grandmaster Knight

The British Army during the Napoleonic Wars experienced a time of rapid change. At the beginning of the French Revolutionary Wars in 1793, the army was a small, awkwardly administered force of barely 40,000 men. By the end of the period, the numbers had vastly increased. At its peak, in 1813, the regular army contained over 250,000 men. The British infantry was, "the only military force not to suffer a major reverse at the hands of Napoleonic France.

September 25th saw a two large armies clash in what shall be remembered as a historic battle, in which the British once again overcame the tyranny of the oppressive French regime. The battle was hard fought, with rounds won on the point of a knife and clever tactics by both the French general and the British coalition with the final result coming out at 3 rounds to the British to 2 of the French. The battle also saw the last battle of the 40th Regiment of Foot, whose brave heroism during the battle earned them a deserved reputation to fight against all odds.
