The Border Princes (TID) Model Update

The Border Princes

Basic Mod Concept: 18th Century Mod based on fictional HRE concept. Characters will be "Germanic" although this mod will make no claim to historical accuracy whatsoever. Primarily it will be a mod built around climbing the 'greasy pole' and winning favour with the lords of the various city-states, duchies and nations that make up the Imperial Collective.

Most of the mods gameplay will be devoted to pitting yourself, and your lords followers, against fellow lords of the collective in an attempt to scrabble to the top. Relationships and quests will be heavily influential in this mod.

Also this is a mod aimed at lower spec machines, like mine!, so it is unlikely that you would lead huge armies against other lords but maybe small gangs of henchmen instead. Very courtly.

Items: The item list will be reduced with regards to actual types of items. New 18th Century clothings and most weaponary will be based on sabers and a variety of rapier-type court swords with a few firearms and low-tech weapons (clubs, cudgels, etc...). I welcome any suggestions. Again these will not necessarily be 100% accurate. I am not going to beat myself up if I am off by 20-30 years in real history.

Warning/Disclaimer: I am a modding noob. I am cutting my teeth on this one so although I welcome any help and support that people might offer but I want potential helpers to realise that fact.

Thanks for any comments to help me along.

Below is my first model for one of the courtly rapiers. It isn't textured yet as I only made it today. Just a little token.

Mmm please note here are a few more models with a basic palette colouring. Hopefully will be textured soon enough.

1700-1799 So the from the Baroque (partly) through to the Age of Enlightenment (more or less). It is my idea that some of the quests use ideas like hiring a court composer, painter, etc... to improve the reknown of your chosen lord. So maybe we might see a Mozart like character popping up.

Thanks very much for well wishes.

Update then: I am working on getting the costumes right at the moment. With regards to powdered wigs I will more likely mod the hair selection of the character rather than make an in game head item. However the this will require a little bit of experimentation with the new hats and headwear as well so progress on that will be quite slow.

Rapiers/Courtly Swords/Sabers: 6-7 designs now
Wigs: In progress
Courtly costume and everyday work clothes: Have not begun but am confident the process should be straightforward.

Quests: Playing around with the quest and reward systems to create unique quests however no significant leaps have been made.

Artwork: Don't ask!

Good luck with this one. Sounds interesting and what's most important DIFFERENT... And I like the fact that it will be quest-oriented. Also I like the time period taken, so count me among your supporters. Though I have no idea about modding, programming, scripting, scene-making and all that stuff, I can help you if you will need conversations, research and things related to photoshop if you'll need one...

Also I can find some cool free-licensed music, apropriate for time-period if you will need anything like that...

So, if in any in that things you'll need help, count me in, just drop me PM...

Thanks for the offer on the music I'll keep it in mind but can find lots of good public domain stuff now that most of those composers are dead! With regards to the quest scripting what would really help me is if you thought of a scenario you would like to see in the mod, different quest types that you would expect a courtly quester to be engaged with would be really helpful.

Many thanks.
