The Best Weapons

Which weapons do you think are the best? (Name says it all)!
You could for different classes i.e. archer, knight, infrantay

Heavy morning star + husclar shield for melee
masterwork warbow for archery

That was little bit obious wasnt it
I like this set for myself and h morning stars+ husclars shields + masterwork light xbows for npcs. Plus heavy charger for all of us. But I don't know what type of unit these make us. Heavy archer calvary probably

The best Melee weapon would be variation from situation.

My personal favorites:

best against heavily armed opponents: Military pick (deals 36 pierce damage)
best weapon against cavalry: Pike (its very long)
best weapon for infantry companions: short sword (in combination with a strong shield)

the best Range weapon:

Solo for damage: Warbow (higher quality is more damage)
Speed over strength: Nomad bow (low requirements and high firing rate)
Strength over speed: Khergit bow

the best cavalry weapon:
best polerarm: Heavy lance (you can use a shield and speed is never a problem on horse)
best one hander: Long Aimingsword (same as above)
bow: Hunting bow

I use soldiers cleaver (onehanded) with a shield and warbow with khergit arrows.
for sieges i use 2 handed soldiers cleaver and warbow with 2 stacks of khergit arrows

Club. Seriously. It's the first weapon that I get in my early games(from looters) and I only get rid of it once I get something really killy; from knights or other elite troops for example, or if I get something really nice from bandits.

Anyways.
ranged weapons:
thrown - rocks; faster, more accurate and with more ammo than anything else. While not a killer, it's definitely a good disruptive weapon.
bow - strong short bow; same PD req. and similar damage to strong bow and long bow while being much faster and lighter. MW short bow is also something pretty good(the only faster bows are the hunting and MW hunting bows).
crossbow - not much; light xbow for horseback combat; for sieges, the more powerful the better.

melee weapons:
short and nasty - clubs, maces (balanced flanged mace/spiked mace), the best weapons for use with a shield.
twohanders - bastard swords, 2h axe/2h war axe, morning star/iron mace, spiked staff. being 2h weapons, tho, these all need to be balanced and with really high proficiencies.
polearms - awlpikes, hafted blades. light lance can double as pike so it's a good weapon for both foot and horseback combat.

1 handed on foot = Heavy Iron Axe
1 Handed mounted = Masterwork Heavy Sabre

2 Handed on foot = Heavy Morning Star
2 Handed mounted = Great Heavy Bardiche

Polearms = Long Great Bardiche or Awlpike (or whatever its spelled)

I prefer short bows for their firing speed to others, if I have to go crossbow I go the Heavy Siege just for the extra power.

Thrown weapons... while I have become fond of the throwing spears a large bag of heavy throwing axes are by far my favorite (actually 3 bags... just have to remember to save the last one for melee)

Heavy Great Long Axe

Balanced 2H Soldiers Cleaver

Heavy Iron Mace

Warbow + Large bag of Bodkin Arrows

Balanced Pollaxe (give yourself plenty of room)

Balanced Long Arming Sword + Thick Steel Shield

Arguably a pick would be a better blunt for speed but I like reach and the HI Mace often one hits. Warbow packs a heavy hit with high accuracy. Steel shield is nearly unbreakable and is small enough to not obscure aiming when using your bow. HGL Axe is just awesome it makes things interesting when facing archers and adds an extra punch of 'x' to my long list of keystrokes at battle start but there are few enemies live through an encounter with - ole faithful!

There is no best weapon it all depends on your fighting style. I like to role play a infantry commander so i put my horse at the back of the lines fight on foot. I favor heavy armor and a good strong shield. 2 of them actually. A nice sword (soldiers one) and a throwing axe.

for sieges i use a bow though i suck at archery.

Heavy throwing axe + shield..
The throwing axes are arguably the most versatile weapon in the game, because if an enemy decides he's bored of being chopped to pieces, you just guy x and wham: he has a new wooden hat =)

Finally, somebody else who likes the 1h "Heavy Sabre" as much as me!!!  Tempered or Masterwork all the better.

I also like the 1h "Hvy Iron War Axe" up at close range...it does 40c with bonus vs shields.

2h Morningstar is awesome pierce but it just feels clunky and slow to me.  (personal Choice)

2h Masterwork Bastard sword or Great sword is good if you are decently skilled or better.

Favorite lance has always been a Balanced Light Lance...good combination of speed, damage and just the right Range.

I love the bastard sword and great sword... unfortunately my mouse is a little cranky at times and gives me trouble with switching where my attack comes from. With weapons like the sabre and the iron axe it matters little if it is an overhead or side swing attack, with weapons capable of piercing I have issues of it choosing to give me a piercing attack rather than an overhead swing which can have very bad side affects...

Every weapon has advantages and disadvantages. Some are better in some situations and some are bad. Depends on you to find out

Something that was not mentioned so far:
- Balanced Long Awlpike on horseback (no couch but better/faster/stronger then normal lances)
- Balanced Hafted Blade on horseback (loads of fun if you don't mind the lack of shield)

Ashwood Pike for the cavalry.
Two Handed Sword or Great Axe for the Infantry.
War Bow for the archers.

If I'm on horse I'm a horse archer so it's usually a short bow with khergit arrows and a nice choppy thing.

I love using a balanced long awlpike on a horse. It´s a 1 hit KO weapon 90% of the time.
Or just give me a good shield and a strong axe and I´m fine with that.
