The best tournaments

Who do you think has the best tournaments?

I like the Sarranid Tourneys, they have a healthy mixture of configurations so if I'm stuck with an ineffective setup, I can just scavenge a defeated guy for something better. This contrary to Swadia Tourneys, where 90% of the time, everyone is on horseback with a lance.

The Rhodok Tournaments are also good, though I hate crossbows, you're not limited terribly by it.

Nords lack of cavalry makes a fun tournament.
Swadian lack of infantry makes a very boring tournament, especially in Praven, where they only use lances.
Rhodoks have very versatile weapons, and so do sarranids.
Khergit tournaments are almost only bow and throwing weapons, so they might not always be too much fun. Also lack of infantry.
Vaegirs have good all round tournaments.

You know, I don't really do the Vaegir ones that much. I usually stay in the Western region of the map. I should try that out.

Well, Vaegirs have a good mix of infantry/cavalry/archery, cavalry has lances, swords and axes, archers have throwing and bow they have basically everything except crossbows.
And, tournaments are different from city to city

nords are the most challenging, an enemy Party with 2+ Jarls can be pretty dangerous, Khergit und Swadian are easy money, the AI isnt that versatile with horses, especially in small arena grounds..

The Nord tournaments are my favorites. Something about knocking King Ragnar out makes me smile. But for ridiculous fun you can't beat Tulga if you get a round of 4 teams of eight fighters. Inevitably many of them will be armed with javelins, which they throw at enemies all the way across the arena until they run out of weapons. Then, if they get unhorsed, they will run around the arena trying to punch out other horses. Great fun.

its all fun and games until u get to Praven. Then u get an hour of riding around trying to hurt ppl with the stupid lances.

heaven forbid u are the last 2 and u end up unhorsed. Then it becomes 2 hours as u are forced to drop your lance and try punch the opponent to unconsciousness.

....

I've found that to speed Praven tourneys up, the best bet is to let them get bunched and then lance as many as possible. When down to one or two, dismount and use your lance like a pike (put your shield on your back) and take out the riding fools. They'll be dehorsed at the very least, you can remount your horse and then finish them off easily.

Well, Swadian's are easy money. In fact, I havent lost at Pravan for the longest time.....

Anyway, yup, the one with the javelins are the worst. It's like dodging bird manure raining down while driving in a tree congested area...

yeah i find praven one of the easiest tourneys, everyone is a lancer, and the ai isnt great at lancing. also there are ways to to manuever your horse to get into couching position, and it makes you really skilled at timing great lance thrusts.

Bleh. I hate the lancing ones. They weren't fantastic in normal M&B and are even worse in Warband. The non-lance Swadian tournaments are the best ones, though. Two-handed sword + horse = win.

I don't like the lancing ones cos' they all just bunch up toghether and do no damage so I have to run back, run forwards and kill one then run back and repeat, sometimes not killing them so I have to run back and forwards again just to do some damage,I like the Rhodok ones becase they are preety balanced but I hate the Khergit ones usualy because I don't level my throwing profiecencys and I hate horse archer unless I plan to do it all the time I love the nord ones becuase of the lack of Cavlary and I hate the Saranaid ones because they use thrown weapons too and only 1 or two infantry and I love the Swadian ones but Praven is ridicolous.

I like them because they are unpredictable. One hit one kill! But it is true, some lancing tournaments become very boring.

No, they added a fence you can ride around instead. Gives it a bit of a hippodrome feel. Still same endless jousting routine, but now with fences.

I found that, on the contrary, that fence made the jousting be over more quickly, as you more often get the chance put distance between you and your opponent, and consequently to pick up speed and see him off (or be seen off yourself). Far less "poking each other with ten foot lances from two feet apart" "duels" in my experience. YMMV.
