The Best Suggestion Ever.

Here is a suggestion for the boards, actually. If you haven't read the frequent suggestions and rules stickies, DON'T POST.

Maybe an autoban feature if you have less than 50 posts and start a topic that has the word multiplayer in it.

Nah, just pop something on the screen like: Did you check the stickies, cause you will be flamed to hell if you start yet another thread about it.

What good would an autobahn do? To help them post quicker?

There apparently isn't a completely effective solution other than to have more forum moderators who are ruthless in their pursuit of redundant posts. The drawback to that is it could alienate more than just the original "redundant" poster; for every repeated suggestion there are a dozen guys who respond as though it was a fresh idea. To them, it is.

I've been on forums where they rapidly remove posts that ask old questions and repeated suggestions: it's kind of like a police state. One forum would have threads with hundreds/thousands of posts and we'd be expected to read them all if we wanted to join the thread without retaliation.

My favorite practical response to common repeated questions, posts, suggestions:

"Greetings. Glad you enjoy M&B also. This is a common post. Please use the "search" engine before posting."

Or words to that effect.

(P.S. On a personal note; I don't really mind the repetitions that much; they're amusing. Also a little discouraging because they don't advance the "conversation." If I have a problem with repeating the same old stuff, that would be it. Now, however, I am just a visitor to the forum, so it's mostly amusing. Good luck.)

Atleast someone sees my point of view.

No, What I'd suggest is that when you are logging on the first time, you'd get a short yet unskippable message that says 'Read the stickies, read the FAQs, and read the rules. These are the three things you have to do before you post. When you do post a new suggestion, make sure it hasn't been made again. When you post to the general discussion forum, think if you could post it to one of the existing topics (like the "introduction/thank you thread"), and last but not the least, don't feed the pavlov.'

Geez.. I never read any of those...
But then i do have less brains than the average bear... rules would just confuse me...

Just bloody ignore posts that are duplicates...
It doesn't help when some newbs get the arse for posting a repeat and others like "my growing idea post" which is nothing but rehashed ideas, most of them bad gets a full on discussion, thereby not learning the git anything...

even Can 'O' soup joined in that one... so this whole thread seems a touch how do you say?! hippopotamous or hipocrapical or something...

The word is 'hypocritical'
That thread isn't so bad. Nothing new, but you're not beating a dead charger. And I agree with Lamb on both parts. I hate n00bz who think they have some totally unfathomed idea called multiplayer, and it's fun being a bastard  Worbah has a good suggestion too.

Compfreak, I'll stick to hipocrapical.. Northing wrong with my spelling..

You have to admit there was nothing in that post that hadn't been said before...

I'm not having a go at the newbs..
just at the olds that jump down the throat of someone who posts a "i love the game, good job " thread" but then reply to a page of crap thats easily findable by doing a 5 second search...

Either we jump down everyones throat or we we let people think it's ok...

consistancy people...
and not usinfg the topic of best suggestion ever if it's a load of old ideas you don't stick to yourself...

best suggestion ever would be something like stopping me from ranting like a loon...

Yeah, I suppose that getting tough like Lost-Lamb suggests would be best after all. But it should be tough in an impersonal way like Worbah suggests. And it should be a "standard reply" that everyone who does it would get, like a form letter that a forum moderator could easily "stamp". Because most of us who repeat stuff are not trying to be arrogant or oafish, we're enthusiastic and in a rush to share our brilliant idea.

Other things that might help/be considered: ruthlessly locking threads, and (my favorite) just not participating in them anymore. Some guys point out that a post is a repeat and then go right on and join the thread...(sorry, I've done that.)

I couldn't agree with my idea more mate...

It's a damn good one...

forgot where i saw this..
thers registration form.. name nick and other stuf...
then thers 5 points to check
'you have to check the folowing if you want to join the forum
1.i agree with user's guide
2. i agre with blabblabl
3. i agree that i wont spam
4. i agree that i wont do thisthat
5. i have agree that i havent read any of this and just checked all of them.(was shorter)
and it also takes 1minute before letting you click register..
so we could have something of the like and also have the stickies appear..

Just bloody ignore posts that are in violation...
When did self control become impossible this day and age?

What about Ingolif's "M&B Common Answer Form"?
