The best classes in Warband.

What's going to be the really frustratingly effective weapon in warband.

The one that makes people rage.

I'm talking about the equivalent of the chainsaw or frag-tag from gears. What will be the energy sword from halo.

I think it'll be mounted archery. I can't see what people are going to do when you have human controlled khergits.

thoughts..?

I don't know, one day Super Armoured knights will be the thing to be, and the next day one beats them with a Jarid, and then everyone will become jarid throwers... I think alot of people would follow the ways of how the crowd will fight. And I? I think that I am going to adapt to whatever beats me, adapting until I am a tough match for any kind of troop.

hmm, I don't know if there's enough of a rock paper scissors mechanic for that to happen.

Throwing Daggers > Throwing Knives > Other Throwing things.

Although, to be honest my version of adapting is changing what I throw. For example, Swads I want high damage, so I go Axes, Rhodoks I want accuracy, so I go for Jarids - everything else is Dagger Time. xD

Throwing classes are very versatile, so a good possibility.

Eh, horse archers will be no more than a reason to keep your shield up to a smart player.

But still, the health of the horses should be reduced (only minorly for the armored ones though) and bows might need to be a tad less accurate, so you can't just get a bunch of footshots. Also, being a horse archer or an archer should make you pretty crap at melee to keep the balance even.

But still, Warband will need a lot of tweaking before it's balanced at all.

I didn't mean adaption like "Archer>Infantryman>Cavalry>Archer" for example, but I especially ment fighting ways, and the best weapons to carry in general.

true say.

I have a lot of faith in the devs though and with any luck I'll be able to help by taking part in the beta.

Really short weapons.

lol, any reason?

For one, everyone in Warband is more or less going to be evenly matched in skill sets and thus speed while on foot. We know that hugging a person, ie. standing right in front of him with no space between you and him, would render most longer type weapons useless, like poleaxes, war swords, and the like, or at least make them very ineffective compared to the short one handed axes, and the daggers.
Your opponent won't be able to back off fast enough since nobody would be that fast compared to your opponent. You can't exactly easily knock out an opponent like you do with the AI using the longer weapons since no one would really fall for that trick.
So in conclusion, in melee fighting as it is in M&B, the shortest fastest weapons though they don't do much damage compared to the bigger two handed weapons will hit first if swung at the same time. You can also use a shield with them.

In Janus' original arena expansion, I always found that regular archers tore horse archers to bits, being a wee bit more accurate.  So, maybe archers beat horse archers, which especially beat unshielded infantry, which beat light cavalry, which beat heavy cavalry, which beat shielded infantry, which beat regular archers...maybe.  I wouldn't actually know, but it doesn't seem that far off to me.  Obviously the match-ups would be more complex, and would include unmentioned scenarios, but I think the game has some degree of natural balancing to it.

...and spears, human players will put away their shields to use their spears like staffs, fast blunt damage, effective even in close range.

Oh, and crossbows, they are very accurate for long range sniping (and players have great aim), it will be interesting to close on a human controlled crossbowman who will hold his aim (not like tha AI), aiming at your head,  waiting for you to drop your shield for your attack, duel of the reflexes

Horse archers will be deadly too but I think (Rhodok) crossbowmen will be the deadliest class, accurate and high damage for range and fast, short (armor piercing) weapon for close range.

Rhodoks will rule

Spears will only be effective if there's a large enough human controlled troops on the field in one close group. 32 isn't high enough. Most of the troops commanded will be AI controlled.

One of the most annoying things will be those archers who stand there with an arrow ready and wait for you to lower your shield and attempt to strike them then point-blank you when your shield is down.

Yeah but what when they start to think.
That's gonna be a *****.
Ya..I feel bad for the next recruit that has no shield and thinks "Hey, that guy over there..with the bow and arrow looks easy to kill!!"

But ya..seriusly..if the horse archers start thinking..It might bring me to go back to staying away from any desert with horsemen. D=
