No, I didn't use any mods.
Summary: I launch the game, it gets to about the taleworld sword animation, moments after that I face a crash, everytime, multi or singleplayer.
I get the " applications has faced a problem". It can't be a hardware issue because when I played it last (launch-day & coming days) It worked just fine. got good frames and everything. I've tried everything on the checklist, tried clean install. I've run out of options.

Wanted to paste a crashid, but I got a bit confused as to how to find it.

How to Reproduce: No clue, I just launch
Have you used cheats and if so which: Nada

Have you tried this workaround?

A certain fix for crashing after the TaleWorlds Video

If you are experiencing a crash after the intro video, you can try the workaround below to fix it:
  • Navigate to these folders: "SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\Native\GUI and "SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\SandBox\GUI"
  • And delete the “NativeSpriteData.xml" and ”SandBoxSpriteData.xm" files under the respective module folder. It is not necessary to verify the game files after this. The game will create the file again when the game is launched again.

Same issue here now too after the update 081722... clean install, no mods
Was fine that morning but while at work, the update installed and have not been able to launch the game ever since.
Un-installed 3 times (the last un-install was last night and I even deleted all folders in Documents\Mount & Blade Bannerlord as well as all folders left behind in Steam install location).

Been playing Bannerlord just fine for three years... *sigh

Doing THIS has fixed the issue for me:

Or as an alternative, open the Windows Explorer and navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules (if this is, where you also have your installation in, it's the default)
Then you enter 'language_data.xml' into the search field upper right corner. Manually mark and delete everything he comes up with in all sub folders (36 files for most). This file didn't exist in former versions either.

Downgrading to a former version does not fix anything. The files won't be removed and every attempt to launch will crash.

Do this and you are good. Enjoy!

I am having the same issue and have yet to fix it. I have not yet installed any mods.

I have done the following:
Ensured my Windows is up to date
Clean installed the game 4 times now
Followed all advice given above
I have tried installing the game in versions 1.8.0 and 1.7.2
I just updated all drivers for CPU and GPU three days ago

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. I just returned from deployment and have been looking forward to playing this game for so long

Having same issue; attempted 'language_data.xml' delete fix above. When I attempt to select and delete the files, I get an error message saying that the 'language_data.xml' file does not exist or has been moved. Can't delete.

3X reinstalls, a complete delete of all Bannerlord files and reinstall, and still crashing on launch. Worked a lot better before the game was ready for actual release.

If you used the batch/powershell script in that link, it assumes you installed Bannerlord through Steam onto your system drive and used the default install directory for Steam itself. If you're like many users and installed to a different drive or changed the default directory, you'll have to alter the script or just manually search for the file and delete what's found through explorer.

This is all assuming you're trying to down-version from 1.8.0 to an earlier version; if you're trying to launch 1.8.0, deleting these files causes it to crash instead. If you previously played 1.8.0 while it was beta, some users have issues if they leave the beta tab set to 1.8.0 beta instead of latest version.

If none of that helps, it would be helpful for us to see the launcher_log and rgl_log contents.
