So I woke up today in the dark of a hotel near JMU (James Madison University, a well known University in Virginia) and I shower and get changed.
It was then that I realized how big today was.
With two discuses in my hand I make my way to the platform. It was around 8 in the morning at this time.
The way that these events work is that the person with the better PR (personal record) is put higher in tier with a latter throw. In this case I was the last throw of the 3rd heat (or tier).
I was ranked number 1 in the state of Virginia with a throw of 162ft.
I knew this could change as my competition was close at my back with 158ft second best.
Some time later my heat begins and I'm pumped up ready to go.
About 45 minutes after that I'm named State Champion by the official with a throw of 167ft with some change (inches).
I'm the Virginia State champion for AA High School Discus.
I will soon have some pics and I got interviewed by the Washington Post so perhaps there will be something to read.
