Necessity is the mother of invention. A poster has a word they need synonyms for. They post a request here, and most keen and unhinged minds of Off-Topic (and beyond?) supply their best.
Doubtless one would get better results if they also indicated any connotations they were looking for in their synonym.

I need one for 'buffoon'. I'm hoping to convey as noble or haughty an implication as possible for such a word.
