The Age of Decadence Thread

Wonderful! It's amazing that the very person I was indirectly referring to showed up to be the idiot once again  And here at Taleworlds no less, a forum of a totally unrelated game!

I might correct my post before, I guess no developers were involved (probably owe them an apology) in the discussions I've read. Mostly this angry fanboi

damn, this might be a good game after all

Yes, make my name bold so everyone sees what a horrible liar I am

I don't deny that I thought you were a developer. I was really disgusted when reading the pages and pages of bashing RPGs...to my surprise, almost all RPGs. Nothing was spared, not even Baldur's Gate. I wonder what the true hardcore RPGamers play. MUDs? Oh, I remember, everyone kinda agreed that PT is great and that Mask of the Betrayer was ok. Well, that's not many...

I still think that AoD looks bad and that the setting isn't all that great. And I'm still not convinced that they will deliver the non linear gameplay and unique quests they're promising. But hey, if they do, I'll be sure to try it out.

I just love how you attacked like a good fanboi, spitting fire and brimstone  Do they pay you at least?
The fact you're not a dev is really comforting.

By chance I got to reading their forums. Is it just my impression, or are they really such a bunch of arrogant pricks?
****wits I'd have said, but nevermind. It's a mix of the "Fallout is da best game eva!" circlejerk crowd combined with the idiotic pricks who think an RPG is about the levels, skills and similar rather than the actual game.
To think I actually thought this was an interesting project... :???:
Nah. The design looks far too heavy to make anything playable. Of course, it means aforementioned muppets get to call it a niche game and fap over how elitist they are since nobody else is likely to play it for more than five minutes.

that does sound a lot like TW forums!

Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if someone couldn't play M&B more than the first 5 minutes: It can be pretty frustrating at first.

Of course it's a niche game otherwise the main dev wouldn't be blamming Oblivion to hell. If he wanted to really sell for the mainstream he'd say it's exactly like Oblivion but better.

But seriously I don't get your community whinge. I mean if I like the game I play it not hang around in the forums (unless I grow to like the forum ofc). Additionally you have to realise that the forum is pretty closely tied to RPG-codex (sharing much of the same members)... and thus goes without saying people there have somewhat strong opinions.

yeah, I realized that by now. They mostly like Witcher so...good in my book

edit: Troika is also liked over there. hmm...nice nice..

There's a difference between being niche because your game lacks mass appeal, and being niche because your game sucks hairy donkey balls.

Fixed

Do you find reading difficult Merlkir? My title at Iron Tower Studio is Craftsman, not Developer like Vince, Nick or Oscar. And before you posted your embarrassing post you may of noticed that I posted links to the Unofficial FAQ and Gallery which I created. If I was a developer, wouldn't that make them official? Stop digging a hole for yourself and stop lying. I caught you lying and you tried to switch focus on me.

Oh, and don't forget to apologise to the developers and the community.

 You caught me?  god, you're such a ****ing moron! yes, smite me with your holy hammer of justice and truth.

Honestly?

I did think you were a developer just by reading some of your posts at irontower forums. And no, I didn't notice the ranks as I paid more attention to the actual posts. And I don't give a flying **** if you think I'm lying

I'm just glad that I'm not the only one that doesn't like you, judging from some other threads I've read there..

Then not only are you stupid, but you decided to lump everyone together and portray the developers and community of Iron Tower Studio as arrogant pricks. I can't put it into words how immature you are.

it really wasn't fair to group those innocent people with you, that's right.

Is someone actually trying to make Merlkir feel bad for being a jerk? Poor sod, he's got less odds of success than an icecube trying not to melt in the fires of Muspelheim.

Merlkir is a self-proclaimed jerk. He has an official Jerk License. He can legally be a jerk anytime and anywhere he pleases. And trying to be more jerk than him is the stuff of which Epic Fail is made.

I urge everyone here to look past the discussions on game mechanics at the Iron Tower site. They are important in how they make the game work, but the main attraction in Age of Decadence goes beyond numbers, skills and stat checks. As you can see from many of the previews published at IGN, RPG Watch and Gamebanshee, the team focused on making the storyline non-linear and offering the player multiple paths through the game. There are seven different starting professions from con artist to assassin. You can take part in the intrigue between the merchants guild, the assassins, thieves, mercenaries, and three noble houses. This is where a well developed character system is important; it's there to support these multiple paths, to make them work, not to be the central point of development.

I figured I'd gather here some of the recent AoD features that have been published on RPG Watch. It's a three-part series by lead developer Vince in which he plays the game the way the Iron Tower forum posters want. This way the potential players can see that every path through the game is supported and Vince hasn't just showed us the best bits.

Let's play AoD #1

Let's play AoD #2

Let's play AoD #3

edit: got the links working

I haven't played it yet and all they do is just brag about how innovative and creative their design is.
Quote or it didn't happen.

oh boy  Jedi multinick? or just an invasion of the angry Irontower forumites?
