Haven't had any problems so far. Enjoying the DLC very much.

The map could use some optimization though, have you guys given any thought to that?

I'm similar to you, then. I've had no CtDs, only some minor lag.

I appreciate you speaking with us instead of turtling, still very much looking forward to the patched version. Good luck guys.

It seems one guy has already spotted all the problems with the DLC in one day and you could not do it in the whole testing period?!

Just go read his post here on this forums and have the decency of giving him part of the money for doing your job.

Like they said, they've been testing it for a while and didn't find these. You must remember that they're just one team of testing, whilst they give it to the entire public with different hardwares etc. It'd be very difficult to find every bug with just one team.

Many of the issues reported so far were not present in the beta testing.

Well that was fun.
I'm a gamer myself and I have heard such statements often from developers by myselfs - never believed!

Now we are on the other side... Worked hard to fix all the problems occured during testing and we were very
happy we got it done for release - at least we thought.
Then the game is released - not to some testers with a small amount of machines, but to tenthousands of people
with everyone a different hardware/software-combination.
Suddenly we read so many CTDs and bugs and performance-issues we NEVER had in the tests since our earliest alpha-stages. Really, most
of the bugs complained here, we didn't even met in our first builds.

Now I know, as gamer and developer, that releasing a game with lots of bugs is not made on intention, but because it is just impossible
to test all kinds of machines you will meet when your fans get your game onto their PCs.

I'm really sorry for the issues people have and we are all working hard to solve these issues (you know crunch-time? for months already... for months!),
even so everyone of us hoped we finally can settle down a bit.
It's something completelly different to develop a mod, or a "real" game. Mods are developed slowly, with continuse testing and feedback from the mass of mod-fans, while developing a game compared to this, is like working in a dense fog, seeing the light on release-date - and then all this testing and feedback you could have needed in development comes all on day one.

I know, most people will not believe me, but this is all honest and all I can do besides working on fixing these issues.

Hey, devs, please take a look at the suggestions in this thread seriously: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,319843.msg7564409.html#msg7564409!

Yes, I've read it and saw enough issues that are related to my missing knowledge about the game's engine.
Nice to finally get such important informations - I'm working on this now.

It's ok, i can understand how different and stressful it must be working on an actual game instead of a mod. And while i'm slightly annoyed that i can't play it, at all, i will patiently wait for you guys to fix it. I think it would have been better, and less stressful, if you guys had released it as an early access instead of a full release tho. All problems aside it looks like a real gem.

I don't regret preordering. Good luck and i hope to see it live up to it's potential.

Where is the throwing axes? Where is the 2 handed axes? Where is the variation in armor?

Hey guys! This thread has been very honest from the developers' side, and I'm sure we can all appreciate it. The mod is absolutely innovative and hits close to home (I'm Norwegian, and enjoy viking history greatly, and have enjoyed Brytenwalda a lot) and yeah, it has a few bugs-- bugs that make it difficult to play. That does not mean that we do not have faith in you; I certainly do. I hope you guys spend your time cranking out bug fixes and making it better and better, because what's already there is incredibly innovative for Warband (of which I have played for countless hours) and the story, graphics and setting is perfect. You guys have an unpolished diamond. Polish it! This is great, keep it up.

Combat and use of weapons is based on history.
Generally weapons were not used with two hands,
And you would not throw (away) your axe.

Hand axes (handöx) where thrown at the enemy no? Two handers where used and makes good variation in gameplay.
Remember you are not just supposed to base everything on history fun needs to be involved to!

And what is whit everyone being big as houses? It looks very unrealistic and annoys me. (MP)

Spot on.
There's a few instances of smaller hand-axes being used, and hidden behind shields to throw for when an enemy gets close. As well as a lot of references to two-handed axes, swords? No, but axes, yes.
Other than that, despite the bugs, I'm in love with this.

I personally prefer it this way, just like rome total realism mod was better than rome total war & rome 2 for that matter.

don't become like COD

it wasn't though was it, it's boring. The idiots promoting this rhetoric spend more time reading about history than actually playing the game. Gameplay is what matters. This is why people populate the game.

I saw pagan priest say Walhalla when its supposed to be Valhalla in sp. Seeing it written like that really hurt my nord soul.

Generally weapons were not used with two hands,

Long shafted woodcutter axes/ pitchforks / scythes while used in battle were not handled with two hands?!
Did they developed superhuman wrist strength at the time of battle then? Because that is the only way you could hold anything like that with one hand. Stop being silly please.

All of the tools I have mentioned were used in battle at the time. Not everyone had a shield and spear and was part of the shield wall. Farmers and peasants joining the fight just brought along their tools. TV and movies is not real history...

Yeh, we need some 2H weapons please.
My ego is hurt at not being able to pillage a monastery with a huge 2H Battle Axe

Well if we're getting picky over spelling, there shouldn't really be an 'a' at the end of Valhalla.

Re-read the part in bold and red. Then re-think what your point is. Done? Ok now you can posts your arguments.

Bring historical evidence that shows what you are saying is true for the era (year) the game is based on. No pointing talking about 11th Vikings. This is not it.

Its like someone asking for a KATANA cause they are COOL and should be in the game cause all vkings had one, right?!?!?

The issue I have is this game is Viking Age which means weapons like long-handled axes, Atgeirs, Kesjas, etc should be allowed in the game, and it wouldn't be ruining accuracy, as they were used in the Viking Age, looking at Sagas and archaeological evidence, you've got a lot of those weapons popping up around the 10th century, which means it's probably not incorrect to think they could have been used in the 9th.
Examples?
Look at Njal's saga (960 - 1020 AD), Eyrbyggja Saga (10th Century), or Egil's Saga (850AD - 1000AD).

Not trying to get on anyone's nerves about it, I just like debating this kind of contention point. Though one thing I'd really like to see, is wolf/bear pelts over the head, or some such, I know it'll probably never happen, but that drawing when I faced the berserker just made me want it so much more!
