Terrible performance on a gaming PC. Need help please.

Hi,

I've been playing Warband on my Laptop for a while which has an i5 430, 4gb DDr3 and a ati5870m and the game runs silky smooth on high settings at 40-70fps. The other day I installed it on my PC which is an I7 860, 8gb DDR3, 2x BFG GTX 280's in SLI and the game runs between 25-50 fps but feels like it's running at 10fps.
Even when the frame rate does drop on the laptop into the 30's, the game feels relatively smooth but on my PC, it's just jittery and unplayable. I have the latest drivers and all other games on my PC run fine maxed out (eg bad company 2, Crysis, Fallout 3). Does anyone have any idea why?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try running without SLI to see if the SLI config has something to do with the issue. Maybe your PC has a micro stuttering issue or your SLI config is not working well with Warband.
