Who are we?

We are a company of a Spanish Tercio raised up during the first half of the XVII century which fought on Flandes, and along the Spanish Road, against the Dutch, French and others Habsburgs’ enemies. We’re soldiers of the Spanish King who fights for our motherland or a better life, and for the true religion. We don’t care who the foe in front of us is, we will stand and won’t give any piece of conquered land unless we take a bunch of those bastards in exchange.

We took the unit’s name form the Alatriste novel’s book; it’s the Tercio where the main characters of the story fight. It might seems an inaccurate or unhistorical name, but the true is that the Tercios were named with its Maestre (colonel) name or with the name of the city/fort where they were serving as garrison, or where they’re just raised; so it’s probably that during a frame of time there was a unit with that name in the Spanish army, even if they just had a few companies.

Organization:

We are a group inside a Spanish simulation company so we try our best to use accurate formations and tactics of the time period, which means that we’ve to be disciplined and well trained.

Originally, the Tercio were formed by an amount of companies which numbers depended on several factors as the unit’s attrition, or if they were companies raised up by “Military businessmen”, or if there had just a few platoons.

Inside the main unit, companies could fought individually or mixed with others, what made Tercios a mobile unit and gave them the capacity to fight in lots of different ways depending on the manpower, the tactics used by their enemies or the terrain. The big popular image of an immobile massive square is just a fake; this formation was used rarely or in extremes circumstances (i.e. Rocroi).

Politics:

When someone joins our regiment, we look forward for a good behaviour from him with his comrades and the rest of the community. We don’t tolerate any kind of conduct that can ruin the game experience of other players, if someone use our tag he represent the whole community, so it carries some responsibilities.

As mention before, we are part of a simulation community so the assistance to the training events it’s obligatory until the recruit proves that he can be a reliable part of the formation, even then, he ought to attend to regular instruction to confirm that there are no new tactics or combat ways.

Recruitment:

We’re open to any Spanish speakers who are willing to take part of this and it means that if you speak Spanish and think that can handle with the different orders you’re more than welcome.
