Technical Question About Memory Usage

I've been playing the 1257 AD mod (highly recommend it) and after the latest update to the mod, well, I'll just say that there's a lot of stuff going on.  I'm getting an almost unplayable amount of lag now (it's a single-player mod).  I alt+tabbed to the desktop for some reason or another, and I found that my Vista CPU gadget showed my CPU lollygagging along with energy to spare, but my RAM was pegged at 66%.

I think this is significant; I'm running this on an Asus G series laptop with a core 2 duo processor, vista 32, and 3 Gb RAM.  It seems obvious that only 2 Gb are being used by my entire system.  Now, computers aren't my career, so I only know tidbits and trivia.  What I'm really wondering is if I need to contact Asus to figure out why only 2 Gb are being used, or if it's something to do with Warband.

Any help appreciated, thanks in advance.

Edit:  I've tested my system, and my computer has no problem using all the ram.  The problem comes from Warband.  Has anybody else had this problem?  Does Warband only use 2 gigs, or what?  Why won't it recognize all 3?

Warband (prior to 1.12x) only uses max 2GB by default.
The current release will use up to 4GB on a 64bit OS, but still only 2GB on (non-tweaked) 32bit OS.
On a 32bit OS this is normal, but you can force it to use up to 3GB.

Before going 64bit the XP equivalent of 3GB tweak worked for me, your mileage may/will vary!

PS what graphics chip does that use?

Hey, thanks a lot.  When I first started reading about that fix, I got a little dizzy, but I'll take a closer look at it when I have some time.

It's an ATI mobility 3650, 1 Gb video memory.  Screen is 14.1, native resolution is 1280x800.  I use lower detail and effects on many modern games, but never notice because of the small screen size.  It's actually outperformed my expectations by quite a bit.

Edit:  I tried the tweak you gave, but it didn't seem to do anything.  I imagine Asus already tweaked the OS, and they don't include OS install disks, so I'm still using their original configuration.  After a bit more experimentation, I've decided it's the CPU that's limiting me after all.  Thanks for your help anyway.
