I mod my computer a lot and get this problem often.
The solution for me is always to let the computer stay off and unplugged for a couple of hours, then it works again.

It does seem to work better when I've left it for a while, like if I use it when I get back from school.

Aye, same as what I mentioned, though mine works fine If I unplug it for a minute.
