Voip usage isn't all that common in warband, but I have seen some servers with info in the welcome message. Some vent, some TS. Most games (where 3rd party voip is necessary) end up going completely one way or the other. Vent in WoW, TS in EVE. My guess is that it isn't really a technical consideration, just whatever catches hold in the community early on, everyone else will follow.

So, which one would you like to see becom prevalent? Personally, I don't play the strategy-heavy modes enough to care all that much.

I'd prefer if ts3 became more prevailant because I've never had anything but problems with vent. It doesn't seem like many people hop on a server's public voip server much on warband anyway though so I don't think we'll see that everyone picking one thing you describe from eve etc

I think warband started early on with teamspeak so that is what everyone is using, Only ATS uses Ventrilo as far as i know.

My clan uses Ventrilo but its just for private use anyway. Personally I think that if the kind host has made theirs public then you should go download whichever VoIP they have decided to go with. It's not like your PC can't handle having both Ventrilo and Teamspeak3 installed at the same time.

POM and nk uses ventrilo too, so its more like "only US region uses ventrilo"

There's a public mumble server in Australia which I use.

But we also have clans which use vent and TS.

Personally I couldn't give a damn but I wish everyone used the same one.

Mumble is more used in europe, vent in US.

TS is for casuals.

Wtf?
I could swear it was like this:

US vent
EU teamspeak 3
AUS mumble

I haven't even heard of mumble. But yeah, TS3 seems dominant in Europe.

Mumble has positional audio, so you can tell where people are in relation to you by their voice.

But the novelty wears off pretty fast...

Especially when there's a bunch of silly bastards running around on their horses. It's terribly disorienting. Add to that the lack of directional audio for hoofbeats, and you have some serious fun.

Why, everyone is content with using external VOIP. In-game VOIP just causes unnecessary demands on peoples internet and CPU if they aren't going to use it.

Everyone?

You presume to know what I am content with?

You are incorrect: I would prefer to have vioce in the game without another programme.

As a friendly suggestion, don't presume to know what 'everyone' or 'anyone' thinks unless you have asked them. In the case of everyone, that's rather difficult to do....
