Sergeant Knight at Arms

He was 3 when his father died, 16 when he joined the war, 20 when he got a pilot's diploma and 21 when he was captured by the Russians during the war. He was a hardworking young man in love with the skies, his heart filled with love for the homeland. Vecihi Hürkuş, who did the first and last flight of the Independence War, was awarded a Medal of Independence for accomplishments in the war. He was filled with hope and enthusiasm when he finished building his first airplane named Vecihi K-6 at the age of 29. He wanted to get a certificate for his plane but there was no one with authority to grant such a certificate and thus he was forbidden from flying. He didn't give up. He was punished for flying without permit and his plane was impounded.

In 1930, he built the first civilian airplane Vecihi-14 but again was given no certificate. He took the whole plane apart and took it to Prague from Ankara and rebuilt it again. The plane was given a flight permit in Czechoslovakia. When he returned home, challenges awaited him. His second plane was banned from flight as well. Did he give up? Of course not.

In 1932, he founded the first civil aviation school. He built two more planes with the successful students he educated. Due to financial problems the school was shut down. He fought hard, suffered greatly and got bankrupt to serve his country and the people until the end of his life. Even the pension he was being given for his heroics in the First World War was confiscated. He still didn't give up.

On July 16th 1969, just as the spacecraft "Apollo 11" was heading for the Moon's surface, Vecihi Hürkuş, who spent his whole life to further Turkish aviation and to endear flight to young people, passed away in misery.

Kolay gelsin, hacı.

İsterseniz Konunun Adını değiştirip her türlü dil çevirilerini bir platformda toplayalım güzel olur mu?
Olmazsada kilitleriz.

Dil konusuna fazlalık olur sadece. Birkaç güne aşağı kayar gider. Şöyle has ingilizce bilen gönüllü birilerini bulursanız ders konusu felan açın size öğretsin. Ama kimse uğraşmaz o işlerle.

+10 sevap point. Level up! New skill: double dua damage..
