they don't answer that kind of question, they could just say "no sorry we'd rather put on emotes and haircuts, that's it". At least people will move on on a more interesting game while waiting for the mods, rather than foolishly waiting for them to plan something to match what Mount and Blade is all about.

sorry if you find my words rather critical but i'm really fed up

The moment one asks "are you actually going to work on the game?" they are being passive/aggressive, and nothing good could come from answering that. You either choose to believe that they are working on the game in good faith, trying to make it better, or you choose to believe that they are running away with the money/being lazy/battling windmills/whatever.

I am not thrilled with the state the game is in myself, but I am confident that the final product will be, if not what we were all hoping for (which let's face it, probably can't be achieved given how hyped this game was), at least an enjoyable base game upon which mods can build. And my opinion is based on past behavior from this same company.

Your, or OP's, mileage might vary, and that's OK. But I don't think anything good can come from making posts in the forum calling the devs "lazy". If they really are being lazy, do you really think that a post from a random person who already bought their game would change anything? Either you trust in this team, or you don't. If they really are slacking or planning to run away with the money the game is doomed anyway. Might as well move on to something else as you say. If they are working hard though, all this accomplishes is creating drama and flaming and tension between users for no reason.

I own early access games where I am 99% positive that the devs took my money and ran away with it (just to name one, a game called Dark and Light). I don't go on their forum to flame (although there's plenty of people who do). They wouldn't care if I did that, they released the game in bad faith and at most might get a good chuckle from the people raging.

TLDR: those of you who are persuaded that TW scammed us all, please just take a break. Come back in a few months to a year. Perhaps you were right all along, and then you can rub our noses in it. Or perhaps you were wrong, and will come back to a pleasant surprise. Flaming the forum helps no one.

P.S.: @TheBerserk, this isn't necessarily all addressed at you. I am just frustrated with disgruntled people coming here and taking it out on fellow players. Let's call this mini rant of mine a plea for civility, if you will.

I might agree with you if it hadn't been 6 months since the release. A barber shop adds 0 immersion, none. That took about a hour to code as well.
Being able to change your hair depending on what culture you're into through a character that dedicates his life to that and can be found in a town isn't a big deal, but it's a deal, and it's part of a sum, I'm expecting more tho, and you don't know if it took about an hour or whatever. I know, a modder in his house could have done it, but a modder in his house doesn't have to deal with other several issues in the game and is doing it in his free time, he doesn't have to hold up to a game title neither, and finally it isn't part of the main game, so even if a modder could have done it I'm glad they just added it.
In 6 months many things have been worked on, I personally think you're being cynical just for being so, you know a couple of months ago I was in the same position as you and I just uninstalled the game, left the forums for a while and now in retrospective, it's quite dumb going kind of angry everywhere, it really doesn't help anyone, and less yourself. It's frustrating playing this game at some point, so just give it time dude.

Sure they work hard. But they work hard on the wrong stuff...you asked for an imrproved sheep texture or for the AI to be fixed?
I mean, they are 2 separate things so as you probably know different groups make them.However... If there isn't an entirely separate sheep texture designer group, the designers should work on those armors.

@eddiemccandless Well said my dude. However, if none of these features eventually make it then I will feel scammed from all of the features shown in the devblogs that have disappeared. Only time will tell though!

@Revverie Yeah the barbershop is a baby-step in the right direction. It shows that the developers are actually working on new features, even if it's only a small addition so far. If the cities were filled with more things like this, it'd add a lot to making the world feel alive.

I wouldn't go so far as to say this is a scam, but that Mount and Blade has enormous potential that the developers don't seem to be grasping, a potential that they don't see or don't want to see. And it just makes me sad.
Mount and Blade is literally a genre on its own, and it chills a lot of people (not just me) to think that they don't want to bother to improve it.

I think of their team only so many actually can code the 'important stuff' so you probably have the sheep guy and the hair cut guy and other people working on these auxiliary things and when they finish something it gets put in. Of course I don't know. I'd be mad if the perk team took a break to make a sheep model

Posters complaining about patches lacking meat when TW said they were focused on pushing mod tools out by the end of the month?

Who do you think created that potential?

Well said.

This is an example of their problems in development. MOD tools? As much as people think they want them now, while we're this deep in development? No. No. Bad choice. Focus on the code base and the underlying game system. Get that going and on its own legs. Then mod tools.

OMFG this is gonna be a trainwreck. I'm surprised so many people don't see that coming.

It already is a train wreck.

Nah, it's not, even if it's bad on its own merits, it's broken, and from time to time boring it's already way better than Warband, the UI is way cleaner, you don't have to scroll through terrible menus, interaction in towns is much faster (selling loot, selling slaves), the combat is more fluid and more fun, the graphics are a massive improvement where I don't have anything to complain about (others might do though) I dare you to go back to Warband and not be completely annoyed compared to how easy is to interact in Bannerlord, in that regard they have made a good job.
The problem is that the AI is broken, sieges don't work properly, there are still many crashes and performance issues and some features are... Questionable or lacking(companion system, marriage system, charm system). I see that the first time you're playing you get completely annoyed, for example the AI getting stuck because they can't get up in a ladder in a siege, but update after update these annoyances are getting erased improving the experience. I recall that in a year the game will be a completely different game and for good, and that isn't a trainwreck, more like a slightly broken train in a long distance travel that takes time to repair and annoys everyone. It will take time, but it will be fixed.

I also think that mod tools are premature, but browsing through the forum will show you that most people want them. In fact, many are kind of demanding for them to be released. So what are they to do?

Just a few posts from a quick search (the last one is a petition on change.org, of all things...).

LOL I hear ya man.

The perils of early access if you don't also choose to ignore the peons while you make what you know is right.
