Just a lil update on the reward for everyone participating or considering to participate - If the current prize pool remains as it is, it will be distributed 60-30-10 going from first to third place.

Sounds exciting!

Here's my most recent progress:

The materials will have to be modified quite a bit to work with Warband, but I'll work on that at the end.
That sword looks incredibly beautiful! Great, great work!

^ I really like that sword, lots of detail put into it.  Did you sculpt the engravings and then bake maps from that?

Thanks!
I sculpted the main shapes and a few of the larger details, but I find that I don't always get enough detail when sculpting the small parts, so those are drawn in photoshop and then turned into normal maps using Quixel. Some of those details are still too noisy so I'll go back in and clean them up too, but I wanted to throw in a WIP before calling it a night.

Great work so far, looks neat!
I would love to use it once it's finished

Good luck, you're my favorite.

Working on some khergit inspired weaponry. Still playing with design so nothing is set in stone.

All of the models are triangulated, and textures are in a 2048 x 2048 resolution. The first model exceeds the polycount limit by quite a lot, it's around 4100 triangles. This is because during the modeling process it slipped my mind that the polycount I was seeing was for quad faces, and it would be much higher in triangles, so I added a lot of superfluous geometry. Once I noticed though it was too late to do any changes. Despite this, I'm submitting it anyway because I worked on it for quite some time, and I don't have anything to replace it with.

All of the models will require some adjusting in OpenBRF, scaling and rotating most importantly. As for shaders, I know nothing about them and don't know which would work for them. I tried using some shaders, including some mentioned in the first post, however they all seem to give a subtle weird effect when swinging the weapons. That might also be because of some flags I had, or some other mistake.

In regards to the last and third model, I have made a scabbard however I reckon that solely the sword should be close already to the polycount limit, this is why I'm including it as an option. This sword could work perfectly as a two handed sword to be carried on the back without a scabbard. If you don't want to go past the polycount limit, with the correct scaling you could implement it that way, otherwise, if you don't mind it, the scabbard is there as an option to implement it as a bastard sword.

Also it's important to note that while for the first two models I've spent time to implement them into Warband and adjust the textures in Substance Painter to suit that engine, although the hammer's metal could use to be a little darker, I haven't done so for the last model for lack of time, apologies. Nonetheless having a look at the base color map it should turn out properly without any adjustments.

Generally the specular value in OpenBRF could be around 3 to 5, and the coefficient to your liking. The textures are provided in .dds format.

Lots of nice stuff to see from everyone.
All submissions look good, but yours is my personal favorite! It is just so, so beautiful and realistic, too.

Thanks a lot, man! Here is a 3D render in sketchfab. I think I'm about done with this one and will start trying to get it to look [somewhat] good in Warband.

Alright...eh...

This is zhua.

2 zhuas.
None of them is particularly royal (no gold, ornaments, etc.), but to me they seem like unusual/unique weapons that can be used by nobility, by some lords or leaders to make them more rememberable (and I haven't seen any OSP zhuas before, so I decided to give it a try). If that doesn't count... well, then so be it, since I'm absolute 0 as an artist, and that's also my first 3d modelling work, so that's the best I can do.
The 1st zhua is based on a pic from the internet:
h-337.jpg
Plus I added that ... grip guard thing or whatever it's called, since this weapon can obviously be used for grabbing and pulling and I'm not sure the force of friction is enough to do it effectively.
The 2nd zhua is based on those used by Iron Crow in 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny movie.

The archive includes 2 .obj files, assembled .brf file with everything in it and 3 texture files (diff, norm, spec). These are generic texture files I made some time ago as a replacement for weapons2.dds. They contain some native textures, but zhuas only use edited free stock raw textures from the internet (specifically, www.textures.com), which, as I was told, are allowed.

Also the archive with screenshots/proofs it's my work:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jls0ilnkyc74oit/Zhuas_proofs.zip?dl=0
I also have a ton of .obj files with intermediate results/versions if you need them.

That is really interesting. I'm not trying to offend anyone of any culture, but they remind me of the back scratcher thingie from the folk markets.

Other than that, great stuff, I downloaded for my personal Module.

Very nice. Could also be used for Middle Eastern cultures. A dagger version with scabbard would be cool. I thinkl there is not enough love for daggers.

It is just perfect. You can really feel the heaviness of the hilt and the blade and smoothness of the scabbards leather. I cannot wait to get my virtual hands on that for inclusion in a personal submod of VC or Brytenwalda.

Interesting weapon, a little bit out of the box. Could also be used as ruling insignia.

Here's my submissions. I've put both of them in a brf file, so there is one download link containing both.
