Someone on the steam forums posted this picture and claimed that Callum deleted this post later.

How reliable is this ? did anyone else see this post aswell?

Probably reliable, pretty damn sure I've seen it, if my memory doesn't fail me.

I think the NPC post you're thinking of was in response to Callum saying that he plans on doing a campaign map blog, to which NPC asked when, and Callum said not for a little while, and NPC said "thanks for letting us know" or something along those lines

Oh I was unaware of Callum's post regarding the conventions had been deleted. Due to this and the fact that Callum hasn't responded here I'd say the most straightforward explanation is that the information within that comment had become redundant and thus needed to be deleted.

This means that TaleWorlds will not be attending E3 and may/may not be attending Gamescon. This does not mean the game will be finished by this point and it does not mean the game has nothing new to show. This is a decision as a company to devote more resources toward working on the game. Sure, TW not being at gaming conferences this year could indicate a game close to completion or stuck in dev hell but in no way does it MEAN that.

Contrary to the opinions of some, I believe TW has not showcased much of their SP content because they want the vast majority of the content to be fresh for all players upon release.

Try to not read into this too much, you'll lose your mind

University Visit Update: Still No Release Date

Heya folks,

I'm the guy who posted about a Taleworlds dev visiting his uni. Well guess what? Not one, but TWO devs visited yesterday. Gökçen Karaağaç, a level developer, apparently was in Istanbul and also attended. There were about 40-50 people attending, I'd guess. I took some photos, but my phone's camera is pretty bad (or I just suck at taking photos), so the text of the slides isn't very clear. The lads who organized the event also put a photo on their Instagram account. They actually took more photos. One may even include ME with the devs, so be on the lookout! Apparently they'll upload it to a Google Drive, so I'll update this topic when they share it. Gökçen is the one on the left, while Burak is on the right in the photos.

As for the content, there isn't much new as far as I can tell. This was organized by the Computer Engineering Club, so the beginning of the talk was more technical. Burak talked about AI and AI techniques in general in the first half. They talked about Mount & Blade and its development in the second half, which is when I started taking photos (the text is blurry, but you can at least read the titles from the slides). Apparently the battle AI is programmed at 3 levels: individual agents (basically every soldier in battle), formation (what the army as a whole must do to accomplish its tactics) and tactic (a meta-strategy to win the battle). Burak said especially the third level was lacking in Warband, and that's what they've been working on for Bannerlord. He also emphasized the modding aspect and that's what basically kept Mount and Blade alive (also that it was pretty amusing to see some of the stuff), so making as much as possible moddable was a priority. Finally, Gökçen talked about designing castles and siege levels and what priorities they had (making it appear large, but also small enough to be traversable, making sure AI doesn't get stuck, etc). Hopefully when I get the photos the slides will look clearer, sorry about that  They also had some photos and a few gifs on the slides, but as far as I can tell, that was from already released blog content (and Warband, for pages introducing the Mount & Blade series in general). So, no new info I guess, unless there's a photo that's actually new that I overlooked.

When they received questions, literally the first one was "Bannerlord when". They said they were working on it, and they followed comments about it with some guilt ("vicdan azabı") but they weren't allowed to give any info about it. I had the opportunity to have a quick chat with them after the presentation. Apparently, they weren't allowed to give any info about it even when faced with an implied threat of physical violence and kidnapping. They had actually read my thread (hi! ^.^) and asked me when I'd kidnap them, there or when they leave the building. Maybe the "bring 2 attractive female friends and get them drunk" could've worked, but alas, logistical difficulties...

Finally, I asked about events and they said they'll be attending Gamescom, but not E3 this year.

Sooo that's it I guess?

I removed the post because I kind of jumped the gun a little, sorry! I wanted people here on our forums to be the first to know about it, but there was a little confusion here about the best way to let people know that we won't be going. I restored the post which you can see earlier in the thread. Sorry for the confusion!

Phew, I thought I might miss something this year 'cause I can't go to E3.

Now I can sleep well tonight.

Well, time to wait until august for some actual gameplay videos and pictures.
Expect nothing. That way when nothing happens, you'll still be disappointed, but you won't be as disappointed as you would've been had you expected something.

Taleworlds consistently releases gameplay at these big events. Last year they even let people play. A few lackluster dev blogs isn't reason enough to expect nothing out of them at Gamescom. Especially when they advertise their attendance.

No, no we can expect big stuff from them in Gamescom 2018 dont worry about it.
The problem is that there are 3.5 months before it and waiting is very painful.

In other words they’re so far from being done they don’t want to present their lack of progress at E3 since it’s just a month away and instead are going to put together some bull**** to present at gamescom

Or, they're so close to being finished they want to push through E3 so they can show a finished/nearly finished game at Gamescom. Or, they feel that they've spent too much time/effort/money on going to multiple conventions in past years and want to cut back this year. Or, any of a hundred other reasons why TW decided to do what they do. Just because they decide not to go to an event doesn't mean they have nothing to show. It's possible, but I find it highly unlikely

If they were close enough to a finished game that they only need 2 more months to show us a near finish product we wouldn’t have weekly blogs showing us banners, weapons, and other minuscule **** that we’ve known since the first trailer came out years ago.

But I respect the optimism.

Just to be clear, I'm not attempting to argue here, just playing devil's advocate, and also speaking out of hope. Perhaps they've dialed back the blogs in order to save the big reveals for the conference, where they might have more impact. As much as I want to see more in-depth info, if TW is saving stuff up for a big reveal, then I understand the reasoning behind it.
