The rotten doorframe screeched as Malthurus made his way out of the house, he looked at his hands and noticed there was still plenty of blood on them, walking briskly over to a well he cranked up a bucket and washed the remaining muck off of his person.
Looking back, he watched as Halth lugged the covered body to a sodden hut opposite his house and was greeted by a hideous man, who's eyes seemed to bulge out of his pale warty face.
Turning away, knowing his business was done, Malthurus edged his way through the mud and excrement caked streets till he got to the great oak doors of the inner city.
There he quickly discarded his cloak to reveal his elegant costume, the pale blue mingled with the gold trims. He looked like a nobleman rather then the scarred veteran he truly was.
At the gate he was greeted by his men, who also were in ceremonial dress.
Marching proudly up to the plump and sweaty Kvali dignitary, who's wide hat seemed more like a cap when sat on his large head, looking past the flab of his red face and straight into his green eyes, Malthurus greeted him.
'Greetings there ambassador, I trust your tour of our grand city was to your satisfaction?', the fat man's face flapped,'Oh goodness, where are my manners, my name is Tidrai!'
'No need for apologies.', Malthurus said cooly,'A man of your....stature is well known to my people. The tour around your city has been most productive.'
One of Malthurus' retinue tried to hold his laughter at his carefully concealed insult to the pompous Kvali-man's weight.
'Well I dare say you must need some rest after such a journey, I shall get your guides to take you to your room.', Tidrai's eyes suddenly opened much wider as he noticed the guards he had assigned Malthurus were missing,'I do apologise, your guides mustn't have turned up. Unfortunately there are still afew of those slacking types in our militia, the issue will be dealt with I assure you!'
Malthurus held in a sigh,'It was my understanding that I was supposed to be given free reign of where I might tread, I should hope those guides get what they deserve, I could have been robbed!'
Tidrai waved his hands apologetically,'Thankfully you made it here alright, I shall assign you some new guides, these are much more reliable I assure you!'
He clapped and several burly men appeared in such frilly clothing that Malthurus almost laughed.
