Tactics skill engourages not playing the game

Dear devs, makers of my favorite game ever.

Did you really make a skill that encourages auto-resolve? Is that what you want players to be doing? Auto-resolving? I'm not saying it should be penalized, but encouraged? Really?

I think the Tactics skill should be revised. I thought "simulated battles" meant battles that the player takes active part in, as in the whole thing is simulated by your incredible game engine. But apparently it means auto-resolved battles, or so I've been led to believe.

In any case, I thought I was taking a skill that made my soldiers better in actual battles. My suggestion is you change the skill to make it so and stop encouraging people to auto-resolve battles instead of playing the game.

Also, the Vlandian Sergeant has Riding skill instead of Athletics. They're infantry, right?

EDIT:
Ok, I have since learned that as your clan grows you might want to send a companion out with a party of his own to do whatever stuff to further grow your clan. And in that case the Tactics skill helping with auto-resolved battles (by that I mean battles that are not simulated ("simulated battles" as they are called)) will come in very handy.
I did not know this at the time of writing. This was the shocked reaction of a long time Warband player when he learned that "simulated battles" are the ones that aren't simulated. So please forgive me.

Yes, this is how it worked in Warband, but in Warband the autoresolve was broken. For example, if I send 100 huskarls to kill a looter, it will 100% of the time result in a dead looter with no losses. Using auto resolve in Warband meant that the same looter would somehow kill 5 huskarls and wound 10 others. Now we have it working as it should be and the tactic skill helps it.

Quite frankly sir, your a mongo.

We are playing the game, we're just not dribbling window lickers who like beating looters repeatedly.

Yes I'm a mongo. And simulated battles are battles that are not simulated but calculated.

Auto-resolve has its uses but I'm not sure I'd have a skill mainly for that. There are some cool perks in it for real battles though.

And as someone explained in the other thread you discovered this, it also enables other things such as less men left behind when fleeing and siege breakthroughs. Honestly what do you expect them to make it do, buff all your units damage? That's equally boring and artificial.

Anyway do you really fight EVERY SINGLE battle yourself? Autoresolve also isn't the best\fastest way to level up tactics

In Warband your Surgery skill didn't work in auto-resolve which was a big reason for me to hardly ever use that even in uninteresting fights. But very easy fights didn't take long anyway. I did occasionally auto-resolve but very seldomly. Perhaps in the end game when I was running around with a huge marshal army taking castle after castle.

I didn't say anything about leveling the skill up, though. But yeah, that's certainly a good thing that it isn't the best way.

The problem with auto resolve is that it seems to give your troops 10x more xp after a battle.
