i think there needs to be some sort of combat mini-map.
usually, infantry and calvary do well as long as they stay together in a mob, but it's really easy to lose 3 or 4 knights in a single battle if they got singled out and overwhelmed. they have a tendency to go chasing horse archers and get ganked.
in this same vein, a regroup command would be useful, to get everybody back in a mob.
a little mini-map using colored dots would go a long ways towards identify units who get drawn off or singled out. you could rush off to their aid and give them a hand.
i think the % health status could also be transfered into combat. if you scroll over a unit, borcha/marnid/knight you see the name, but it would also be really useful to get a % health status too. that way, you can try and baby sit any of your high-level units that are getting beat up.
finally, some sort of way to track remaining opponents and/or incoming waves would be helpful. just a tally of current enemies and incoming waves would help assess the tactical situation.
