Ooops, I finally realised why it was so easy for us to defeat Leifr's cannibals.
Remember how I/we wrongly assumed that a lost combat round meant you'd be knocked out? And how the rules said that the cannibals can't be knocked out so we killed them right away? Even after we realised that the actual knock-out rule was wrong?
Yeah... that...
So like three of four fights that first round versus Richard (and later Gaham as well IIRC) would not have ended with instant death for them.
