T4 bandits -- WHY????????????????????????

WHY do they exist? WHY are they some of the most powerful units in the game? Why does every bandit tree but Sea Raiders get not just an effective horse archer but one competitive with the ones used by militaries? WHY does nearly every bandit type have a higher ratio of these elite cavalry than most non-Khergit armies?

Obviously this is coming from a place of frustration since I just took an escort caravan quest which vomited out, I kid you not, 140 Mountain Bandits, half of them Highwaymen, and they took my midgame army to pieces.

this really makes absolutely no sense at all. Very few bandits should be a match for a soldier. Certainly there should not be significant numbers of bandits in nearly every single bandit group that are better than nearly ever soldier in nearly every single regular army, like is true of Steppe Bandits.

A VERY SMALL HANDFUL of the very most powerful Bandits might deserve to have special troops that are a match for regular armies. Those groups should be bandit clans and play similar to the Brotherhood and the Legion of the Betrayed, except they'll occasionally try to raid the heck out of a major faction if they get too strong. Ordinary bandit clans having among the most powerful militaries in the game man for man just should not be a thing at all.

A measuring stick for Bandits should be that ordinary bandit groups with no pedigree or uniqueness should go 1 for 1 against Militia. And you look at Marauders and Highwaymen and try to measure them up against a group of militia and all you can do is laugh helplessly. They are ridiculous.

I would have no problem with special bandit clans being nasty and having very powerful specialized units that can catch you by surrprise and give you a run for your money. Ordinary, normal, garden variety bandit groups absolutely should never, ever be doing this.

To refine my point again, another thing that absolutely should not be as easy as it is, is capturing bandits, especially Mountain Bandits which are so easy to capture in the very early game, and molding them into an elite strikeforce of Highwaymen that can take down armies twice their size. And yet a player can do this, even on Realistic, if he knows what he's doing.

I really question the idea that bandits should be one of the easiest sources of crack elite troops. And yet the cost of capturing and recruiting a Steppe Bandit is tiny compared to the multiple battles, timing and luck it takes to raise up ordinary T4 units in this game.

If you're trading in the early game you almost can't NOT wind up with about 15-20 elite Bandit cavalry as the backbone of your protection. The need is too great and the solution too obvious. Something really needs to be done about this.

Yea I don't get it, unless Taleworlds intends for you to lead a life of banditry when they add more features to the game.

But I agree especially on the point of highwaymen. Those guys are not only cost efficient, but are a pretty good counter to both archers and horse archers.

Because TW had bring your kids to work day everyday and they made the bandits and the economy and the perks?
I think it's a good idea gone bad. Like they should have 1 elite leader unit, but instead of just making it so they spawn a certain way, they can all promote into high tier bandits so over time they become OP. Probably the people who made bandit parties weren't the people who made lord party behavior so they didn't understand that lords will be zero use in removing bandits and bandits will overrun everything and level unrestrained.

Honestly a better idea would have been to replace all those "boss" units with named wanderer-types with appropriate equipment. Then the player can either ransom them for a decent amount of cash, give/sell them to a lord for +relation/cash, execute them for Honor points or imprison them for Honor/Mercy points.

That makes a LOT more sense than bandit Navy SEALs.

You're basically asking to eliminate any more early-mid game progression -- as if there really was much there to begin with. Currently bandits provide fun battles with a real risk and reward in the early-mid game.

The problem is with the escort caravan mission, not with bandits.
