Sword Sisters

I had thought of using my heroes for this personal guard, however since they can never die its often advantageous to have them on the frontlines where they can do a bunch of damage before being KOed.

I actually ran around with an all-female entourage of accomplices with a female char and 34 sword sisters (I got lucky!) and it was actually pretty alright :p although i didnt run on the "realistic" settings. Sword sisters are nice at running down some weak units though I find.

I like that they use coursiars-  make them agile, and kinda unique to use,  i'd prefer they got a stat buff rather than a new horse.

Yeah their speed is an asset really.

They fill a unique space in the troop trees, they're fast cavalry but heavily armored troops - always have a decent speed sword with short range for tight siege situations, and often have crossbows for fire support when not mounted.

I get the feeling their frequency of death if left to their own devices is a) their fast horse since they'll often hit the enemy line first, and b) the predominant lack of helmets.  Given that they don't have ironflesh, a shot to the head is likely to be fatal to them.  Their shields are strong but small and I find they often die to archer/xbow fire.

All of which are manageable with some micro-managing of them as a single group.

Indeed, similar to Khanate Horse Archers - if you play to their strength they do quite well. If you let them run free they'll get themselves killed.

Incidentally - I set all the female units to 'archers' up to Sword Sister.  Sometimes they have an axe/shield instead of a crossbow (or in rare cases a bow) but they will survive better in your archer line.

Best light cav in the game and their upkeep is low for what they have to offer.
