Sword Sisters, anyone?

Has anyone ever saw any peasant prisioners?

I was trying to start a game where I'm a captain that can just recruit captured prisioners... just to make it all a little bit harder and funny.

Then I remembered.
I've never seen up until now any kind of brigand group holding peasants captive. Only manhunters, and I think they are morons...

Any1?

I've only seen like 10 peasants/peasant women but with i think it was Lord Vlad of the kingdom of Nords. Only time i seen em.

Peasant women are dead easy to get just attack the parties that are coming and going from all the villages to the cities and use blunt weapons. There party size is normally around 10 and half of them are usually women, so you just have to recruit from your prisoners.

only way to get them is to knock em out, take em prisoner and try to recruit them
at least that worked in the last version, haven't tried it yet in .960

It works, it takes a few tries to recruit them and then once you do you have to cross your fingers (or use the Garrison trick) and hope they dont run away. After the first night they should be fine. Then its just a matter of keeping them out of harms way long enough for them to get to at least Camp Defender level. Sword Sisters are one of the best units in the game, on par with Swadian Knights or close if I remember correctly, however they are fairly troublesome to train but it can be fun sometimes to go into battle with an army of warrior nuns.

It's taken me ages to finally get my first Sword Sister. Having a castle helps. You can take travelling peasant women prisoner, but they nearly always refuse to join you in exchange for their freedom. If you lock them up in the dungeon you get a second chance to ask. Occasionally outlaws will have peasant women as prisoners, but that seems very rare because the travelling villagers can usually outrun them, making enemy lords probably the best source.

Does anyone use Sword Sisters in garrisons, or is this considered a waste? Being good with crossbows and infighting with swords, they should be ideal for fighting off assaults.

They suck at sieges, at least that's what I've found out against the Vaegirs. Damned headshot machines.

Occasionally armies will attack groups of peasants, and I usually manage to end up with about 10 sword sisters by the end of a game solely by rescuing peasant women from castles and enemy lords.

I think that the problem is that the small peasant groups (which always seems to number 10) are usually too fast for the large armies to catch, so it rarely happens.

If I'm using a horse-only force, I like having some sword sisters in the mix. Their fast coursers mean they can keep up with the Khergit lancers and horse archers, and they hit hard and fast enough to put a severe hurting on foot archers. Problem is, the courser is damned easy to kill, which can make it hard for them to go toe-to-toe with knights or heavy infantry.

G36E, put some sword sisters together with a force of sharpshooters or marksmen, and they will put a serious hurting on a castle garrison with those crossbows of theirs plus the heavy armor. They also work well as dismounted archers if you have time to place them well before joining battle, which has the added bonus of keeping them from running off and getting mauled by sea raiders or other heavy infantry.

The problem is them getting arrows through their pretty helmetless faces, don't want to ruin the perm do they?

I get them all the time as rescued prisoners from castles or towns.  Probably about half of the castles and towns I attack will have a couple as prisoners.  I have 30+ sword sisters in my party.

An arrow through the brain is a small price to pay for avoiding the horrors of helmet-hair.

Hmm. Now I want to experiment: I wonder if the girls would perform better as a second-wave assault force, mixed in with hired blades and other heavy infantry types.

You guys do know that some of the Sword Sisters actually have helmets, don't you?
And also that not all of them have crossbows, right?

Thanks for the bolding, saved my work.
Most of them die w/o helmets, so the rest are irrelevant.
Not all of them have crossbows, so not all of them are useful.

My Sword Sisters are starting to annoy me. I've got a few points in riding skill, but my hunter is just a tad slower than a Sister on a courser. Charging to the target, just as I line my pole axe up on some fat juicy Lord, with the Sister off to my right, she does a swerve across me bringing my mount to a dead stop. Goddamn women riders!

101 Dalmatians, I'll lol.

Now that that's done... Yes, AI sucks.
