OMG!!!

I just created an account to say thanks to the creators of this amazing mod. I started playing SOD 4.1 a week ago and liked it a lot, but SOD 4.5 is just a master piece :shock: even with those small bugs. I have been waiting for warband realese for a long time but now I only need this mod.

I have one question, I have been reading that people can capture castles very easily but the only way I can capture anything is setting up battle_sizer at 25 which is the lowest. I always use battle_size at 400 when figthing open field battles, but if I try to take a castle I get pawned even with elite soldiers. So, what are your tactics or the recomended battle_size to take castles without feeling that Im cheating?



 
I'm sad, my game crashes in any battle I engage in for "RGL ERROR: Unable to restore vertex buffer" or something of the sort.

Running Intel Quad Core 2.33 GHZ 4mb cache, 4 gigs of DDR2 RAM and a Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 1 gig on Windows 7. Windows 7 is the only thing that I can think of that would be conflicting with something in the game to make it crash? Can I get some help?

It's the beta of SoD v4.5 gold (most of the content is implemented unlike in alpha, but there are still many bugs).

I got it to work, for some reason it only downloaded 24mb and then said it was completed. I'll play it tonight if I have any spare time.
 
Hmm... Correct me if I`m wrong but last time I checked (which was yesterday) there were only 37-38 pages or so.. WTF has happened  :grin:
 
This mod is great, I was surprised at how much more it has since 4.1....one question though -

As the current version is fairly buggy, is it likely that save games will be compatible with future 4.5 releases/patches?

And also, has anyone found where the Slavers are?
 
Go to Sargoth.. In the menu click on visit the marketplace and the slavers guild is just after the goods merchant :]

Wait until a castle is taken by another faction, then siege it in the next couple of days.

They usually only garrison 30-50 troops for the first week or so, making it easy to capture.


You're spot on about how great this mod is... I've been playing it for ages, but 4.5 is a really huge improvement. Once these bugs are worked out it'll be unputdownable.
 
How can I name my Kingdom again?

I've to rename the castle/town im planning to conquer first, but where and what to edit ?

The name of your faction is the same that you picked during char creation. IE: If you're from Zerrikanian Sultanate, your faction is also called that way

Castles can be easy to take but you should stay aware of hot spots, that being Castles that have just been taken recently, so that you can pounce on it while the defenses are low. Spilt your troops into regiments so that you can lead enough men to both take and hold the castle, then put most of your men into the Castle to defend it (keeping a Castle can be much harder in the beginning then taking them).

And agreed, 4.5 is a HUGE improvement, literally having just about everything I could want in a mod. And I highly recommend you guys try the KT0 autoresolve option: it allows more factors such as actual weapons/armour to be taken into account rather than just who has the highest levels.
 
Once you hire mercenaries (in this case I hired 25 regular Black Army guys for a month), are you meant to pay them every week as well as the cost of the initial hiring?

Because I took a town with their help, and there were about 200 prisoners... I could only fit about 20 in my army, and the mercs took the rest onboard.

Unfortunately this skyrocketed my weekly payments from 1,500 to over 6,000. Quite annoying.


I don't think this is a bug, which is why I'm posting it here, but maybe mercs should have a fixed weekly cost that it tells you about when you hire them.

It is in the menu of the town.  The scenes for the capitol cities have not been altered to have a new entrance point.  To get to those scenes, you just need to click on them at the city menu. 
 
Bravo, "claps repeatedly"  Once I loaded this module I didnt stop playing it for about 7-8 hours straight, I found it being 2am when I came to my senses from the hypnotized state the mod had me in.
Its great, the merc guilds are cool, great job on the mod...i like the badboy rating system, so much yet to discover....thanks for blessing us with this masterpiece.
 
im so annoyed, this looks like the perfect mod yet im crashing every battle, ive tried changing settings but
it dosent help. As i said its never crashed in native or any other mod so im at a lost... so frustrating :cry:
