American football is basically armored rugby except way less cool and no New Zealand All Blacks to intimidate their foes with a haka before every match. Then they go watch an overpaid retiree flub a game against the New Orleans Saints who scrape through on poor play and pure Cinderella-story tears. They will be crushed mercilessly. All of this is overshadowed by the primary purpose of the event: a barrage of insanely costly advertising.

We SoD enthusiasts, however, prefer our gladiatorial combat on gore-flecked computer screens instead of astroturfed fields of honor! Clearly we are much more civilized.
