What the hell !
I love how the sword and Bord battles are in Arena !
At first i block mostly, than the battle goes on, shileds come up and down faster.... swords up and down faster...
the fastest charge hits and then shield up again even more faster, it makes me sweat !
how much live has the oponent left ?, a fast look to my shied duration... one mor hit, maybe two...
and than the final blow with a straight forward cut.... succsess !! yea !!

just want to mention =)
Regards, Fred Wildenstein.

Ahh yes, the ol' "Your turn! No, my turn! Haha, no your turn!" until someone's shield breaks and then you die.

10/10 I love it.

A man does not know how to fight shields.

You know you can dodge as well right? And shield bash for a quick attack to stun them

Yes, I know this, just making joke out of the AI sword and board fights.

I always back up and go for a Kick, Shield Bash or I just go right and out turn them until they die.

Dig the combat too -different timing than Warband -like an offbeat attack. Wish AI crouched, ducked, and shield bashed back. Also one of those roman jump thrusts moves would be nice once in a while -like a superman punch with a blade

Noticed some higher tiered troops do feints sometimes and do things like continously attack rather then just go 1 after the other. But its defenitly not the normal AI, think only elite troops do it?

This is true, the more skilled/higher tier troops actually perform feints and shield bashes/kicks as well, not as often as you'd want but they do actually know how to do them.

What AI setting are you using? Since Beta 1.1, even on Challenging, all the AI in combat is totally braindead. They USED to do stuff like this before the AI changes based on skill level (In fact, you could accuse low level AI of being too strong, most notable when fighting the trainers in the tutorial) but even on Challenging, a Lord will not even attempt to block. Just swing and hope he's faster (he never is)

That sounds like an error made on a new build -im sure it wont stay.

Never knew about the high tier troops using my moves -have to look out for that

I only saw feints I gotta admit, dident know they also bashed and kicked  bad ass!

My favorite part is in the Khuzait or Sturgian tournaments when you both get spears and shields and stand in front of each other blocking eachother's jabs till one of you gets a 20 damage hit in and then you both block for 10 more minutes and get another 20 damage in and then one of you dies of old age. Riveting gameplay.

I really hate the spear and shield area combat in the arena. For the Khuzait it almost seems inappropriate. Their tournaments should be all horse based.

1. Drop your spear
2. Walk up, block the first hit
3. Spam backhand slaps while moving opposite the direction you swing from, and into the direction your fist moves into.
4. Keep on mashing that LMB key, don't even bother blocking.

As far as I know, the fists do less damage than the spears but it takes 1-3 minutes to kill an opponent this way as opposed to fighting him with the spear. Especially if they're lord types with >200 Polearm skill.

I counterpunch. Block with your shield and swing before the enemy gets his shield back up. Works enough time.

Close when he thrusts, back up when you thrust. The idea is to try to hit him when the spear is nearly fully extended and you can do decent damage that way.. You can't face hug your way to victory in a spear fight. But you can win, and pretty quickly, if you have good footwork and time your thrusts well.
