Ok, that wasn't too great of an example - of course everyone sides with breasts. But my point was, that it's ridiculous to "support equality" by campaigning about swimsuits. To me, it just shows how necessary those organizations are now days, as they can focus on things like that.

You might want to remove the link, our forums aren't as gender-equal as Sweden and posting links with nipples visible (OMGWFTBBQwhocares) might earn you a slap on the wrist. It's not like anyone's bothered by a pair of half-covered breasts, but...

It's supposed to be a news photo after all (though I wouldn't count Iltalehti as a news paper).

I was hoping I wasn't the only one who missed how bad that was.

Considering I like my coffee hot, that's not going to be such a great idea

Heh. I agree with you, just pointing out that the powers that be might not.

Yeah, I guess.

Did some background research on this () and it turns out that only recently two girls got told to leave for doing this (different pool though); it's my guess that the incidents are connected.

Always was, that's why the ""

@Lep: I'm sure there have been more of those, they just haven't got reported. Might be wrong, though.

Well, it depends. How exactly did the "topless OK" situation come? Did that feminist organization go to court and then forced the swimming pool management to allow topless women in? If so, I agree that this is crazy.

If those feminists just said what essentially amounts to "If you do not let topless women in, we will tell a lot of women not to go to your place and you will lose clients. Also, since it is we who demanded "topless OK" policy you are safe from any potential lawsuits since you can always say "but they demanded it!"" and the pool management agreed, then I'd say it is not too bad. Certainly not nearly as bad as castrating Swedish coat of arms (or whereever else the lion was castrated).

Wow having to wear clothes is so oppressing. In fact I think as a male I've been oppressed by society and I'm gonna walk nude. I mean I live in the Sub tropical Florida where even now in the grasp of winter it is but 70 degrees Fahrenheit (Mid 30's Celsius I believe). So **** you society if I want to go naked you can't do anything.

I support this idea, 100%.

I really don't see WHY we are prudes about
clothing. As to aesthetics (the most important
of all considerations), I find fat bellies hanging
out of shirts every bit as disturbing, and those
are perfectly legal.

Just look at my avatar, and you'll be able to guess whether or not I'm in favor of this. Maybe it's time to move over there

Oppressed? You have no idea. Fight the man, like a real trooper.
Too bad you're going to starve to death, if some of the gay cops there don't show up first to put you under arrest and rape you in your cell.

I'm actually pretty acetic about this kind of thing.

I, personally, do not want to see breasts at my local swimming pool, in fact I do not like to see men without shirts on. If I had my way we would all go back to having full swimming costumes.

I also agree that fat people are unsightly, and something should be done about that too. But one thing at a time.

Time to duck and cover, I expect.

As a guy, I am in generally in favour of equality of the sexes.
As a consequence, I am generally opposed to modern day feminism as it more an excuse for positive discrimination than for equal treatment..(but then I am opposed to every sence of positive discrimination as it often implies a rupture with traditional and culture histories instead of a gradual evolution through general awareness)

As for the boobies, I think the feminists got nothing out of it. The way they dealt with this discrimination, it is only one event in a potential chain of complaints. After all, the point is/should be that the female breast should be de-moralized (in the sense of being taken out of the sphere of ((christian)) morality). By simply obtaining the right to go around topless, you don't change the perception of the female breast by men/women as a sexual item, nore do you break through the moral judgement which is linked to the sexual content of the female body.

Next time, they'll complain that men/women are looking at their topless bodies, in an approving (hence sexual) way or in a disapproving (hence moral) way. It struck me that the defenders of this emancipation were also those with the most traditional vison on what societe has as a moral/sexual judgement. Very few of the feminists that spoke out on this topic on an international platform had a perception that wasn't black&white, where of course every feminist cause was White and every sense of criticism was Black, Evil and a symbol of Oppression by the Male conspiracy . Which kind of a contradiction in terms. Equality is a just cause, but only when it is obtained with proper means and methods. Modern feminism is in it's current form impossible to maintain and even insultive for the true cause of feminism. I cannot help thinking that this was just a cheap PR stunt for this dying movement.

Acknowledged. I've always thought of these feminist organizations (or red-hoses as we call them in Norway)
as a maniacally depressive woman, instated by the government, in a position designed to have the last veto in an all-male board of directors.
If they won't assimilate, she will kill them in their sleep. That will effectively describe the claws they have around the politicians' necks.

I'm all for equality, but when a woman shows something and then has the nerve to complain it's being stared out, she's making a pwoerful statement in favour of corporal punishment.

The thing I really hate about this, is the men are going to start perving over the women, then the Rights Association will campaign for women to keep their tops on.
Madness.

No, just time to explain. Why?
