Sven's Linebattle Map - Prussian Countryside

Sergeant Knight
This map was designed with linebattles in mind, so it may be a bit big for just regular battle.

It has 2 larger hills that give an awesome view of the field, as well as multiple defensive positions. One team spawns in the little town, while another spawns by a camp. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions feel free to post them here or contact me on steam.

Looks perfectly optimised. Might add just a tiny bit of detail in the town, a few barrels and boxes near the doors of a few houses will do great.
 
Amazing. I love your work Sven. I'm a huge fan of the flat kind of map with some small bumpy terrain here and there. Excellent, good work. :wink:
 
Thank you guys for the support! Sorry it took so long to respond. Storm hit us pretty hard and knocked out the power all day (as well as put 4 trees down in my yard, 2 of which almost went INTO the house -.-)

That's what I was going for! While I love detail, I often feel like maps are just cluttered. Thanks :smile:

Frames per second? I pull 60 just fine on it.

I'm debating this myself. There is good artillery positions, and they have multiple ways to be flanked without having a great line of sight on the flankers generally. As of now it's allowed, but artillery tends to be just too accurate for smaller maps like this.

Agreed. I get frustrated doing towns because I can never find a good balance between not enough items and just cluttering them. I'll see what else I can do with it.

I will ask avion to add this to the NA conquest event, it's great!

It's currently not conquest set-up as I'm horrible with that. Last few times I've tried to set up a conquest map it ended up having multiple points on one pole and everything was named weird and it was a huge headache. As soon as I figure out how to work with all of that, I'll definitely be setting it up though!

Indeed there is detail then there is OTT ... my computer is not awsome (atm, paypacket should sort it soon :wink:) so I prefer open uncluttered maps, probably why I play lbs nowadays.

So awsome work :wink:
 
I was exploring this map on our server just the other day. Absolutely love it.

If youre having trouble with deciding what to put and where, use logic; What would the citizens use and need daily? Perhaps there's farmland nearby? Placing some barrels and wheelbarrows, mill_ props and such around would make sense, for example.
 
How about this? I left the one area fairly free due to all the space taken up by spawning during linebattles. All the buildings around the side of the town have little stuff lining them.

Also added a logging area, as well as a screenshot of it by the attacking spawn.
 
Looks nice, only I think that center thingy looks a bit weird, but that could be just me  :razz:

It's a prussian flag, since its a prussian town :razz: Didn't get a good shot of it. Was going to add a little tree area with benches but I don't think that'd fit in too well.

Part of me wants to say to add some variation to the dirt roads, they seem a little too straight to me.  I'm not sure if anyone else feels this way, though.

I thought about that as well. However I felt with the way everything is laid out, straight roads actually seemed more realistic. Could be just my opinion though.
