I agree... My party had 19 surgery skill (yeah I tweaked it, it's very OP and nobody should really use it) which gives a >104%(around there, and definitely larger than 100%) chance of a member getting wounded when beaten.
Basically, on open field and siege, no matter how many causalities my army and my allies suffered, non of them actually dies.
I'm using native save for that one tweak and that "no companion interactions tweak" so that pretty means a big YES to your question
