I looked everywhere for my rgl_log file and i just couldn't find it. Im pretty sure its not there since on my pc I knew where it was. Even file search comes up with zero results. It doesnt matter really. i guess it really is related to my system or hardware.

Can you point out which line item in the scripts txt file where i can edit the amount mercenary i can hire? Want a large army and go around towns recruiting 3 to 10 soldiers are helping, thanks
 
A few problems I've been having: The game crashes as soon as I talk to the looters who kidnapped the merchant's brother, his shirt is textureless, and then I get a message after it crashes to my desktop that a texture is missing. The next, during certain battles and tournaments, some strange, flat, four sided shapes that change color often adorn the field. I can walk through them, and computers see through them, but I can't. Next, I'm simply missing the mesh for me_vae_bow_imperial, which is only an inconvenience.

The installer for expanded is a bit buggy at the moment and misplaces a few textures. After the installation you should also see a dev suite folder in your module folder - take the textures from in there and put them into your floris texture folder and the texture bug should be done. As for tournament crashes, windyplains has put a great deal of time into tracking them down and it seems they are related to corrupt game files due to a patch gone wrong or a crack being used. You can either reinstall a full version of the game from www.taleworlds.com or simply disable tpe ingame under mod options.
 
Sounds like the game isn't crashing during tournaments, but is displaying the whacky stone-like textures from using DX7.  You may be able to fix that on a town by town basis by switching to the native arenas in the Tournament Design Panel.
 
Thank you for this amazing mod, I think it makes the base game a lot better. Yet the crashes make it unplayable.

My game crashes regularly in battles. This happens mostly in battles with 100+ fighters, but lowering battle size does not solve the issue. It seems to be connected to performance, but it has often crashed on me when FPS were around 115. High FPS are not a guarantee for stability, it seems.

I am currently sieging Shariz. The game crashes 10 seconds into the battle, sometimes I can play for 2 minutes or so.

The game freezes, I have to hold the power button to turn off the laptop. Sometimes I can exit the game by pressing the power off button once.

My specs can be seen in the log posted below. I have done everything recommended in the FAQ to improve performance, including battlesize 30, directX 7, low textures etc. FPS improve, stability does not. Lowest FPS I have had so far were 55. Good enough in any other game.

Native (unmodded) has much better stability, even though it crashes once every 2 hours or so in battles 500+ fighters.

This has happened in Gameplay AND Extended. Gameplay seems to be marginally more stable.

WB 1.153 and 2.53. Reverting back to 2.5 brings a bunch of other problems, including crash on startup.

Drivers are up to date.

Mhm your rgl log doesnt list any specific crash reasons (warband is poor on that end sadly) and your specs look like that should be able to support things. There are 2 things that you could try to improve things - If you are using a steam version of the game, you can use your gamekey to download and unlock the full game from taleworlds.com . As strange as it may seem, this helped quite a number of people with crash trouble. If you are using the taleworlds version of the game, but used a patch to get to the latest version (of warband) instead of a full installer - you could give the full installer a try. Aside from that the third party software game booster could improve things slightly for you.

If nothing helps, we apologize for the trouble and hope you understand that warband is using a rather old engine, which cant utilizie much of what the higher end systems offer performance wise, which is why some systems have trouble with the mod, while they shouldnt. We are working on further improving performance in future versions (2.6), but it is still a fair way down the road.
 
Thank you for the quick reply. I am downloading the Taleworlds installer, and will be trying that version. Was using Steam previously.

I have been having trouble with other games freezing recently. Alan Wake freezes every 10 minutes - but ARMA 2 works just fine (low FPS though). I was wondering if it might be down to my hardware, or overheating (CPU monitor shows low temperatures though)... BFBC 2 works fine too.

I think it might be down to WB's engine in combination with the Mod's increased demand on hardware. This really sucks, because I love this game and this mod!
 
Good news everyone!

I installed the Taleworlds version and Game Booster. IT WORKS. I played the siege of Shariz, and despite some lag and battle size 30, it worked and was actually fun (to watch, since I got an arrow to the face repeatedly).

Edit: Back to square one. It worked for about an hour or so, and now it crashes even in 30 battle size battles. This is so random.
 
Yeah, its extremely strange... you do have load textures on demand ticked? Aside from that nothing comes to mind.

Sounds like the game isn't crashing during tournaments, but is displaying the whacky stone-like textures from using DX7.  You may be able to fix that on a town by town basis by switching to the native arenas in the Tournament Design Panel.

This is what's happening, and I did just end up switching to native arena for those, but there's still one open world Nordic battlefield filled with them.

Yes, textures on demand is checked. Native runs without flaw btw, just checked several large scale custom battles, and 200 vs 200 are no problem. 50 FPS, but no stability issues, no crashes. The stability issue is due to some part of Floris. I wish I knew which part, then I could disable it...

I really do not want to go back to Native, there are too many features of Floris that I do not want to play without. Is there another mod of similar ambition and scale as Floris?

Can you give me an ETA for Floris 2.6? Maybe the performance fixes will solve my stability issues.

Version 2.6 is still a fair way down the road as we have a few larger projects coming along with it. Since gameplay isnt working for you either, you could try earlier version of floris and warband, if you want to get some of the features of floris. Aside from that Native Expansion has a similar theme, PBOD + Diplomacy (Diplo board) offers a number of features floris includes, same with the Native Mod Compilation (just a thread in the caravanserei, doesnt have its own board)... mhm generally interesting mods to breach the time until 2.6 would be Brytenwalda, PoP, AD 1257 or Ududs new Blue Blood mod. (Oh and the Floris Workshop if you want to try out some of the new 2.6 features.)

I have been looking through those boards, but most of the other mods recommend or require WB 1.143. Is there a way to get that version? Taleworlds and Steam only offer 1.153 as far as I can see.

The 1257 FAQ says that using 1.153 will produce bugs, but that post is two months old... have you tried?
 
You can get the 1.143 version by right clicking the download link on www.taleworlds.com, copy it, paste it, exchange 1153 with 1143 and you are done :wink:

ok never mind. i found rgl_log. don't know how I couldn't find it the first time. Just to summarize I have white trees problem and some strange artifacts in the background, but i noticed that they only seem to appear when on grass covered landscape... when there is snow covered landscape everything looks ok, even background with mountains.

When I encounter the group of robbers at the start he is wearing incomplete textures and the game crashes because even with the texture thing clicked on the config area it wont load the textures. help
