Sunday Line Battle

Updates:

With the reduced population pressure on Sunday LBs I have removed the Regimental Rankings, so regiments can now get a decent throw of the dice when applying for a spot.

Artillerymen are generally expected to fight and stay with their cannon during a battle, but they can temporarily take shelter behind a NEARBY friendly unit and return when the combat ends, or they can permanently leave their cannons and go the way of dismounted cavalry, picking up a musket and falling into line.

As for regiments, the current limit is 1 Cavalry (of any variety) 1 Light Infantry (Rifle or not) 2 Artillery (Each battery being 3-4 men and a cannon) with as many line regiments as can be added on top of that. I may consider changing that given the increasing number of cavalry units, perhaps switching to smaller cavalry squadrons of 8 horsemen, and 2 per team.

I think you will find that is 'Captain Moogs'

Could the Garde Jaeger Bataillon take part in todays linebattle. We are skirmishers and I have 12 members who can particpate today. I would greatly appreciate being able to join and I would like any opportunity for my regiment to gain experience in battle. We have some good experience already in linebattles as over the last 2 weeks we have participated in all that has been availiable. I hope you consider my request.

Oh god that battle was awesome. It also had lots of funny moments, like when the 95th ran past the highlanders and started skipping (jumping)

Another brilliant Sunday Line Battle, thanks to all the regiments for making it special, great job to the artillery regiments who were (imo) the heroes of the battle. Didn't crash once, had pretty decent latency, and got a decent K/D ratio!

Line battle today was...

Well, less said about it the better, but one thing is for sure, we need some custom maps, the random maps just don't seem to be cutting it.

How many men have you? I presume you are the unit leader, participated in many line battles previously?

Well we have about 12-13, and have been in a few line-battles

Ok two small rules updates:

1. Battery limit is increased from 2 to 3 per team.
2. All Infantry units should select a non-guard class of solider unless designated as a guard unit for the match.

As for new units - I know there's been quite a lot of interest both on this thread and on TS, but Im finding it continually difficult to entertain line infantry units of 12 or so guys as they typically only put 10 on the field of whom 2 may be lost due to crashes. I really must emphasize the need for 16,18,20 man units in line battles - yes its a difficult number to reach before even fighting in a single battle but its much more rewarding to see a battle of several large units engaging each other instead of two hordes of small units.

Very enjoyable, the start was a bit shakey but what do you expect when you need to organise 250 people. When it did get going, even teams proper tactics. Was brilliant, thank you to everyone.
